great move by apple to get people into the ecosystem. people will buy this, and upgrade to airs/pros etc in 3-4 years
Now they're backtracking that stance due to the recent DRAM price hikes. š
The touchid to me makes it a no brainer, unless you have an apple watch already and use that for unlock the ability to use touchid is so so nice.

8GB RAM isn't even enough for basic web browsing these days thanks to bloated web frameworks and browser sandboxing, especially with React & Chrome. Plus, the GPU and NPU are sharing some of that memory as Macs come with Unified Memory.
The SSD better have a higher TBW/DWPD rating to handle the constant swapping.
Apple has learned the hard way about this and that's why they finally released the base model Mac Mini M4 with 16 GB of RAM in 2024.
I bet the only reason the MacBook Neo came with 8GB of RAM is due to the skyrocketing DRAM costs.
