I'm looking for clocks that last. Even top-name brands disappoint me.
I bought four 13-14"ish AA-powered non-ticking clocks in 2015. One was bad out of the box, and the other three still keep time better than my two new Timex Expeditions - at least until the battery gets low. I don't think the brand name matters, because it's no longer for sale, and probably has the exact same commodity black box on the back as this.
They have been far less frustrating to own than various radio-controlled Lacrosse clocks over the earlier 2000s, and haven't failed with the "getting disturbingly hot" mode like AC-powered digital clocks have.
I find it very annoying to count seconds on non-ticking clocks. These don't have a second hand, I'm not a fan of the 8" size, and the idea of exposed wooden hands turns me off.
Did the mistake of putting it up this morning and then realizing it ticks, though a bit silent than regular quartz clocks.
it is going back..
also fyi this doen't have a cover over the clock face..
