The 64GB model is the best‑value configuration of this powerhouse CPU, and it's already discontinued in many regions. Even the official site removed it, suggesting Best Buy is clearing out the last units. Getting a brand‑new one at roughly open‑box pricing is a rare chance

Good deal. I got an "excellent" last week, but probably would have paid more for new if this was the price at the time. 64GB is a good spot. I have played with the allocable RAM and it is straight up fire with 16GB allocated to graphics and the rest for the PC.

I won the lottery at $1585 (no original box, only 8 months warranty left). One thing I didn't appreciate before buying is that when doing "normal" non-gaming stuff, this thing is QUIET even at 20W-25W draw

I loved this device for my use case when I had bought one open box for 1800 but couldn't justify the price when I just picked up a g14 5080 open box for 2k including BB Total tech.

How well does this do with gaming on the integrated GPU?

According to the review on Notebook check:

AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 Analysis - Strix Halo to rival Apple M4 Pro/Max with 16 Zen 5 cores and iGPU on par with RTX 4070 Laptop.

It also says:
Depending on the RAM configuration, you can allocate dedicated VRAM for the GPU (up to 24 GB for 32 GB SKUs, 48 GB for 64 GB SKUs and 96 GB for 128 GB SKUs

According to the reviews, it benchmarks really well on most modern games but best to leave ray tracing turned off. For the form factor, it's pretty hard to beat.

Yeah but that's the only time it was that cheap. I've been waiting for it to go below $2000 brand new and it finally did.

If you look at the latest 358H Reviews, you can see that its similar at gaming when tuned to 15w (literally most games 1080P High without RT, and getting 120 to 150 FPS with driver level frame gen on) and when you let it use it's full power, it is discrete graphics level good.

If you've had your eye on this particular model with this RAM configuration, now is the time to jump.

Do not hesitate because you aren't going to see much of anything like this at this price for a long time to come.

Yet people here in 2023 bashed and ridiculed me for promoting 64GB of RAM. They said it is "overkill."

came to say exactly this
how can this be a gaming machine if you have a screen
not much bigger than my phone? steam machine maybe, gamer? no
I'm sure its a very powerful machine, but don't just slap the
Gamer tag on it like it belongs. Call it what it is.

lol what hyperbolic nonsense. "not much bigger than my phone". IF you have the largest smartphone screen on the market which is an unfolded Pixel 9 pro the 13.4 is almost 3 times larger. And your phone can't run an external desktop monitor at 4070 equivalent performance, this can. Also same thing comparing it to a Legion go which is around 8 inchs.

The entire point is that it is a sub 3 lb machine with 4070 performance for people who travel. If it's not for you cool, it ain't for me either for a lot of reasons including that screen size, but acting like a 13.4" screen being a few inches smaller than the industry standard 15" makes it "not a gaming computer" is nonsense. Under this logic no desktop computer is a gaming computer machine either.
