All of mine - except one color - dried out within 6 months. They were carefully stored with the head down to maximize life, too. Shelf life is garbage.

This. Something has changed with the metallic sharpies I've not noticed it from the blacks thankfully, but if you want metallic colors and you're not going to use all of the pens immediately consider non-sharpie options like "nicecho" - have had good success with their metallic pens on dark metal grinders, they wipe off a little easier but they also aren't dry after a few months since the use is incredibly occasional. According to Amazon the bag of them that I am currently using were purchased last march for about 9 bucks (https://a.co/d/07ZTV4N4 ) it looks like they are no longer available but the suggestions on the Amazon page for roughly the same amount look almost identical so I would assume it's the same Chinese supplier just with a different label (in the exact same color).

(I've also got a pack of bics from a recent slick deal but it's too early to say how the shelf life is 💜)

I've had just the silver for a long time. Didn't dry out, but lost its color no matter what I tried. Just watery Grey after that.

I cant vouch to much in regards to drying as my kids steal them then they disappear buy I did but this exact pack in July of last year. I bought it for 7.99 so this isnt much of a deal. That list price is a joke and looks to be about that price all the time.

It's weird that everyone has reviews about these drying out, because I have golds and silvers that are ~15 years old and still write perfectly, on the rare occasions I need them. Maybe some solvent got banned or something? Cheaper manufacturing? Amazon special editions?

Over the past 30 days, the price of Sharpie Metallic Permanent Markers has ranged from $7.79 to $7.99. The current price is $7.79, which matches the 30-day low.

Did you buy them recently?

I got 2 metallic sharpies in 2023, still work fine.

This is the exact type of thing i don't need, but want, and if i had prime, I'd probably end up wasting my money on them.

Unfortunately, I currently have a 30 day prime trial.............
