Community Reviews
Logitech's Ergo M575S is a comfortable thumb trackball that shines for long sessions, couch use, and setups where you do not want to move a mouse around. The ball feel gets praise for precise control, the battery life is described as very good, and the switches are easy to replace when they wear out. The main caveat is Logitech's familiar left click and double click failure over time, and the flat shape may need a riser for better angle. It is a solid, low maintenance trackball if you want ergonomic control without the full MX Ergo feature set.
Common Questions (6)
It can develop the usual Logitech left-click double-click problem after about 1.5 to 2 years, and some older units needed switch replacement. The switches are relatively easy to replace, and swapping in a new micro switch is a longer-term fix.
Many long-term users report no thumb problems even after years of daily use, and the thumb movements become small and light once you adapt. A few users do report lower-thumb discomfort or RSI in heavy-use sessions, so it may still bother some people over long stretches.
The MX Ergo adds on-the-fly DPI adjustment and an adjustable vertical angle, which the M575S lacks. The M575S is still considered a solid, comfortable backup, but the MX Ergo is preferred if you want angle and position changes.
Yes. The switches can be replaced, and some users desolder the bad switch and solder in a good donor switch from another Logitech mouse. That makes the mouse more maintainable and can extend its life well past the original switch failure.
It can help by moving control off the wrist and letting you use the mouse without a flat surface, which is useful on a couch or in tight spaces. It does not eliminate strain entirely, because some users feel the stress shifts from the wrist to the thumb.
New users may need to lower pointer speed at first and raise it gradually as they adapt. The ball can feel overly spinny or inaccurate until your thumb learns the motion, so a slower setting helps during the transition.

I even bought a Seenda trackball from Amazon, and almost everything was the exact same, exact the trackball no matter what was too slippery.
But as soon as I swapped the Ergo's trackball into the Seenda, no issues.
Currently that's the last "missing piece" of the thumb trackball puzzle for me, is figuring out what's special about the Ergo's trackball that has the correct balance of friction to catch the thumb's movements, but also not too sticky/dry so that it's really rough spinning the ball around.
