I've been tracking whole home dehumidifiers and Aprilaire gets good recommendations. I was looking at the E80W DIY Bundle @ $1908 (sold by Amazon) but the more powerful E100W (100 pints per day (PPD) vs 80) is $1805 after the on page 30% off coupon. For reference, Home Depot has it for $2235 [homedepot.com] but also doesn't include the condensate pump (~$130 by itself) and rest of the DIY bundle that the Amazon listing has.

My home's relative humidity is constantly in the high 60%/low 70% range which is too high so this deal came at a great time. The E100W is typically around $2200-2500 so makes sense to upsize to the larger unit if it is cheaper than the E80W

An 80 pint per day portable unit runs under $400. Why install a unit into your hvac and not buy 2 portable units...Asking for knowledge

Fair question. I actually have two small portable units already, so I know the trade-offs firsthand. They're loud, take up space, and I don't want to manually empty buckets or run drain hoses for each one.

My goal is whole-home dehumidification at 50% or below. Doing that centrally through the HVAC means it's hidden, quiet, and condensate is handled automatically via a condensate pump. Out of sight, out of mind.

I also run Home Assistant, and this AprilAire has Wi-Fi — so I can control it directly if my Ecobee thermostat isn't enough. Full automation, no manual intervention.

The unit isn't cheap, but I was already committed to this approach. Finding it $600 less than the next reputable option made the decision easy.
