Yeah. No. They have 100% over estimated their self importance. They will cease as a paid website in less than a year if their model stays the same. People use ratings maybe once every 2 years or less when they are in the market for a tv. At best they will join for $7 for the first month and cancel right away. They would have been better off taking ad revenue. People will just turn to AVSforum or the many other sites that have tv data.

Lame. They have grossly overvalued themselves too.

$45 a year. I don't think I've ever used the site 45 times in the last 5 years.

Pay them or go with a site free with advertisements where they get paid by the products they are reviewing... hard choice.

rtings every time for actual trustworthy reviews.

Just don't ever hook it up to Internet. These things data broker your screenshots every 500 milliseconds. That's why they've become so cheap. Putting an Apple TV streaming device in front of it.

5-10 bucks a year maybe. 4 bucks a month to read about stuff you really dont need in the first place is dumb. Its not like its providing hours of entertainment per month.

Noticed that too. Guess the RAMpocalypse is causing price hikes across the board, affecting the web hosting industry as well is my assumption.

Also their quality of review has degraded over the years. Now all they care is contrast in dark room for some crazy odd obsession

Just so we're clear, you still get a review summary with pros and cons. You don't need to know the individual numbers to be able to guess what it would have gotten. The individual specific tests aren't super important. They still do a good job of comparisons to other models, explaining model lineups. More than pretty much anyone else does reliably.

Yes. You get a quick snippet of the pros and cons, and if you're reviewing two models, it's just the first paragraph at the beginning. That said. All I have to do is type in the model number into AVS forms and I get a great snapshot of what people were saying. Often times better. Rtins reviews the Samsung QN90 F giving a favorable review, but peer reviews say it lacks for sports and motion with movies. That detail is left out in the snippet summary.

for people who own this tv, can you default the tv to a roku or apple tv box everytime you turn the tv on? or you have to go to homepage w/ ads before selecting the inputs?

You think Apple doesn't do the same thing?

They would lose so much affiliate income with this new subscription model.. People come to rtings, click the Amazon/bestbuy link and purchase.. must've been so much income!
