I've probably bought a dozen or two of those for kids and families.
While yes I've had 1, maybe 2, die unexpectedly and randomly after a couple of months - I've also had multiple ones go through all 9 levels of toddler hell and still work.
And at this price (~$1 each), they're probably selling them at about materials cost. It truly is fascinating if you stop and think about it.

Seller only has 90% approval rating on the marketplace.

At this price probably still worth the risk, just be aware that reputable sellers generally bend over backwards to score 99% or higher ratings.

I have probably went through 10 of these. 4 of them are still floating around. I tried to change the battery and the membrane refresh itself dies. These are e-waste, but hell if it isn't the awesome for leaving in the car for the kid to draw on. At this price the battery costs this much if it dies.
