The Costco one is the 1700 watt version. And on Amazon they have the 1700 and the 1800 (might be 10 cheaper?). I think that would just affect the recovery time but not help it get any hotter because these things are limited to like 375. I found it frustrating that I couldn't get it up to 400 because sometimes when you dump in your frozen foods you need that little carryover to maintain the 350 temperature. So that was my biggest frustration with this. But the oil filtration is very nice and we did fry french fries and chicken katsu a little more frequently because this machine makes it easy with the basket and the filtration. Now we have posted our tfal fryer on craigslist because now we have induction cooktop with a thermometer probe which is better for frying but a little bit harder on the cleanup. The resale isn't so great for this used especially since the shipping cost is high. So Costco is a better overall option I would say because you could just return it if you're not happy with it.
