I'm actually on my 2nd Aeron after my first one's mesh bottom started getting torn up at the front lip just thru normal use. My second one is starting to do the same. They both lasted about 8+ years before it started tearing, a cat would expedite the issue.

If you're already gonna spend $500+ on this chair it's worth it for just a bit more.

What's undeniable, however, is the durability. You'll get 2-3x the useful life out of it compared to chairs from Staples, and at $500-600 refurbished, likely save money in the long run. Plus, repairs are common. Many companies will repair or replace worn fabrics for pretty cheap, extending the life even further.

They are more durable that is true
He exclusively wore tan khakis, which wore thin in the backside every few months. And there was always tan-coloured "dust" under the chair. Guess what? That mesh was like a cheese grater to his pants.
He also hated the transition between "mesh" and plastic frame. He compared it to sitting off the edge of a hammock made with a 2x4 frame. You're always are going to feel that sharp edge cutting into you.
I sat in these chairs occasionally, depending on which client site I went to. And although they ARE sturdy and they DO have many adjustments, you can't get over the absolute lack of comfort they provide. I'd rather sit on a hardwood, unpadded dining room chair from the 70s than that thing. At least the dining room chair was designed with humans in mind, not mindless corpo-drones.
But I also will admit, a LOT of people love these chairs with a passion. So you might totally disagree with the above. Try them out first, if you can.
