Nice watch. I'm old. When did wristwatches become the size of wall clocks?

You must not be that old then. Large watches have been around forever.

I disagree. I think he's older like myself. Big watches weren't the in thing about 25 years ago.

It's smaller than a Seiko turtle from the 70s, 45mm case, or an original Bulova lunar pilot (from around the same time). That's about the first big popular watches I know of besides maybe some niche things or like original pocket watch conversions. I think the big watches did take off during the 2000s though. Probably around when gshock became popular but it's started to trend down in the past decade or so. The average usually sits around 40mm for as long as I've paid any attention to watches though. 44mm is not really that large for a chronograph though maybe just slightly above average, definitely within 10% of average.
The eco drives are nice though for lasting quite awhile but retail price is kinda crazy for not having sapphire considering how cheaply you can get a sapphire crystal watch in most any Chinese brands for $100 or less. There's probably a sapphire replacement you can get for super cheap. Looks like under $30 on AliExpress... Nice watch but even at 208 it's a bit much considering what else you can get for roughly the same.

I have this watch and like it a lot. I'm a big fan of Citizen and their eco drive watches, like many. I got this on sale for $139 in 2019. So this sale price is exactly 50% higher now! Inflation sucks so much, man... The leather strap is a little worn out after 7 years of moderate usage, but the rest of watch is still in great shape. And I can say the same for my other two Citizen eco drive watches that are around the same age. No visible scratches yet on the face of all three even though none are sapphire. I do wear/store them with care though... If I didn't have the watch already I probably would be tempted at this price, but I would try and hold off until it was $180 or less. But hey, with the shipping and oil industries in disarray once again, it wouldn't be a bad idea to grab it here if you like it.

Exactly...sapphire crystal is not any super premium exotic feature! Really should be standard for ANY watch over say, $100.

Too busy a design. Give me sleek and simple minimalist. I'll stick to the Citizen Eco Drive dive watches, like this: https://a.co/d/07HolVZ3

45mm is not big. I just semi-retired a 50mm Aragon that I was daily wearing with a nylon strap for almost 10 years, it was also like 3/4" thick. But overall very simple looking.
