Desktop chip, and a pretty fast one as well. Probably overkill for productivity tasks. But unfortunately HP includes a proprietary PSU that doesn't provide PCIE power for GPUs, so the only graphics cards you can add are lower power ones that run off slot power only (like an RTX 3050).

Not a wood grain fan typically, but this sure beats the all white "gotta match my $10 Ikea trash furniture" and "trippin' ballz" one million RGB color-changing fans look.

Is that a desktop processor or a mobile one? That's not Lunar Lake, is it?

Can I install a regular ATX PSU or is it smaller and have specific connectors?

yes, HP specific connectors.
Hence: "proprietary". Yes, it's on purpose.

Quick Amazon Price Check
1TB NVME = $160
16GB DRR5 = $240
Core Ultra 7 265 = $300
Motherboard = $100
Total = $800

Seems good deal even just for parts.

Motherboard is worthless. It's a custom board.

I got the Ryzen 5 8600G version with 16GB and 512GB SSD for $550 (Black Friday). Stellar machine for the price. They could've easily made it half the size though - it's literally only 30% occupied inside if you don't plan on putting a graphics card in it. I bought an Intel Arc Pro B50 graphics card for it.
