As I said above, Jackson Glacier and Powder Town, and North Face Thermoball Eco Snow triclimate are all ski jackets, with features specific for skiers. Those are both unnecessary and add to cost. Also they are less warm because skiers generate a lot of heat themselves, so they are actually intentionally thin to dissipate the correct amount of heat. This jacket is solely for everyday life and it maximizes heat retention because it doesn't expect people to generate a lot of heat themselves.

Thanks! Very good deal. I got one in smolder blue. Finally find something truly warm for urban life instead of a ski jacket.

How does this parka compare to other Patagonia parkas such as Jackson Glacier in terms of warmth, waterproofness and weight? Without much layering, I am looking for a parka to wear everyday around town in cold weather in Chicago.

Isn't this too short for parka? I had surf-fur parka before and someone stole it. Is this better than sur fur parka?

Lots of complaints of fit issue - too baggy. On the website it recommends sizing down. Went down a size and will give it a try. Thanks OP!

Does Patagonia make any jackets with pit zips, or have they phased them out?

One reviewer wrote - I am 5'11, 180 and got a Small and it fits me almost perfectly. The Medium did not fit me at all, it was way too big.

The Jackson Glacier is absolutely NOT a ski jacket! It is a casual, lifestyle jacket/parka that is intended for city use. It is not technical in the slightest. If you ski in it, you will overheat.
