THIS IS FALSE, people need to stop using Google AI as it seems to pull info off random reddit/FB posts. The conversion rate is 40% now, so 12 months of essential = 4.8 months of ultimate/$13.33 a month. Waiting for it to be down to at least $10 a month before I buy back in again, my 3 years of super cheap expired in January 😒

To convert 12 months of Xbox Game Pass Core (formerly Essential) to Ultimate, redeem the codes while you have no active Ultimate subscription, then purchase 1 month of Ultimate to convert at a 2:1 ratio. 12 months of Core becomes roughly 6 months of Ultimate, as the ratio has updated from 3:2 to 2:1.

Steps to Convert Core to Ultimate:
Ensure Inactive Status: Wait for any existing Game Pass Ultimate subscription to fully expire.
Redeem Core Codes: Redeem your 12-month Game Pass Core (Essential) code(s). You can stack up to 36 months.
Purchase Ultimate: Purchase one month of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate directly through the console or website.
Conversion: This triggers the conversion of your Core time to Ultimate at a 2:1 ratio (e.g., 12 months Core = 6 months Ultimate).

So in a nutshell, for each year of Core/Essential you get 4.8 months of ultimate
Temped to jump on this just to extend mine but, screw Newegg (they were not charging tax years ago, I was building custom PCs and exclusively buying from them. Long story short, one year I got a $3K bill in taxes because of Newegg, machines were already sold and that killed any profit I made, never use them again)
