The Panasonic Z8 is a premium 77 inch OLED that stands out for bright output, a stronger processor, and 144 hertz gaming support with HDMI 2.1 features like variable refresh rate, FreeSync Premium, and G Sync compatibility. The Fire TV interface is described as smooth for adjusting picture and audio settings while content plays, and the set includes HDR10, HDR10 Plus, Dolby Vision, and HLG. The main concern is Fire OS, which draws complaints about ads and ecosystem clutter, though those issues can be reduced. Panasonic OLED durability is still an open question, making this a compelling but not fully proven long term pick.

Common Questions (5)

  • Fire OS works like other streaming platforms for subscription apps, and the TV settings menu is easy to adjust without leaving the content. Ads can be minimized by turning off videos and audio, but the interface is still tied to the Fire TV ecosystem.

  • Durability is not clearly established from the comments, and one concern is that Panasonic OLED longevity is still unknown. At the same time, older Panasonic plasma TVs are reported to still be working perfectly after many years.

  • The 77" Panasonic Z8 Series OLED 4K UHD 144Hz Smart Fire TV is $1,399.99, and shipping is free. The listing also notes same-day shipping via Amazon from Beach Camera.

  • It is described as having a better processor and brighter output than the B5, with a heat sink mentioned as a premium OLED feature. That combination suggests stronger performance and brightness, though long-term Panasonic OLED durability is still uncertain.

  • It includes 4 HDMI ports, 2 USB ports, Ethernet, digital audio output, RF input, and RS-232C input. For gaming, it supports 144Hz, VRR, FreeSync Premium, and G-Sync compatibility.

Yeah we still have a tc-42s2, it was mid range, and has retired to the guest bedroom/sick room. But still functions.

Ugh.

Best wishes. It truly was the best TV of 2025 per various review channels.
I got the Z8B because Z95B was out of my budget.

I have two Panasonic plasma TVs from mid-to-late 2000s and they are both still functioning perfectly.

Any thoughts on the Fire OS software that this TV runs on?
FireOS is great if you enjoy a barrage of nonstop ads and a shitty ecosystem. It can be fixed with a $20 Android Box from Walmart but still.

Do u have this TV?
That's not my experience as a 2 month owner of Z8
Of course I don't worry about trivial things that can be mitigated without adding an external dongle and side loading a 3rd party launcher.

I do not but have friends with FireOS TVs and they all hate the OS.

Basically if you can avoid hooking a Fire TV up to the internet, you should.

I had no idea anyone used the built in OS to do anything. All of them are garbage.

Then how does one adjust the settings on a 4K TV?
Do you have a modern TV?
