The legal limit for an ebike tops out at 28mph and 750W (1hp). Anything above either speed or power is a moped or a motorcycle, both of which require licenses.

Some states limit kids even more, like to ebikes capped at 20mph. NJ has banned ebikes for all unlicensed riders, after a kid ebiked into traffic and died. (And all parties voted for it. "Think of the children!")

Furthermore, this form factor is not good for a bicycle where you pedal. That big, wide seat? Yeah, that's crap for pedaling. Do you see any way of adjusting that seat for pedal comfort or power? Absolutely not. Notice how slack the chain is in the "action shot" on level ground. Not a great sign for keeping the chain attached.

Lastly, this "bike" screams "I wish I were a motorcycle." Triple-tree front end? Way too heavy for any bicycle. Oversized tubular steel frame? Same. Square seat in a fixed position? Only for 100% motor use. Big ol' eyeball headlight? Absolutely motorcycle-wannabe.

This thing all but has a sign that says "Do any cops want to harass me over my unlicensed e-motorcycle?"

There are waay too many laws to name as they vary from state to state and even city to city.

Here is one of the most comprehensive article I have found.. that is even made by an ebike company.
https://www.velotricbike.com/blog...s-by-state

I am a USAF veteran living in Montana, and our outdated laws have ebikes capped at 20MPH, Mopeds at 28mph , and the rest are required to be certified as an electric motorbike.
You are required to have a driver's license to drive a moped in MT (so some older middle schoolers may be able to drive a moped). And a motorcycle endorsement for an emotorcycle.

Here straight from the state:

All of this is factual, but what about taking a little bit of risk in life and having fun? We're stuck in such a safety grid that sometimes we forget to enjoy taking chances. For me a police citation might be worth the hours of fun I'd have before finally rolling by the wrong cop car.

I was just looking in to getting an ebike here in MI. Nothing I looked at fits into the classes. The mountain bike style I wanted couldn't be ridden anywhere but on the street from what I can figure. I'm so glad we have these laws, for our safety.
It sucks being a man in today's world. Everything is all about being safe, and guys need to live a little outside of these boundaries. Safety for me is knowing my own limits and not going above those limits and not being an idiot around traffic. Beside that, it would be nice to not feel like we're constantly in a safety zone of laws everywhere we go. These bikes would be so much fun if people weren't so dumb in public on them.

[QUOTE=Ro-Mell-O;182981592]What's the weight limit for this?[QUOTE]

According to chatgpt:

The eBay listing you shared is for the Megawheels EB01 Electric Bike (20" fat-tire, 1500W peak motor).

Weight / Load Capacity

Maximum rider + cargo weight: 330 lb (150 kg)
megawheels.com

This means the total load on the bike (rider plus any cargo or accessories) should not exceed 330 pounds according to the manufacturer specifications.

What I want is full suspension NOT FULL AIR SUSPENSION...

I don't like they they used the words, "FULL AIR SUSPENSION" where the rear has no suspension. This is an almost.

"Cop for 29 years. What's the code that makes it illegal for middle schooler's in your jurisdiction?..."
That would be a municipal code Mr. former (I highly doubt it) policeman. If you don't know it would be a municipal law then you don't know which law it would be.

You realize you can still go buy a full on 450cc dirt bike if you want, right?

Nobody is saying you can't have fun, they are saying you can't ride your shitty unlicensed Chinese moped on trails that are meant for actual bicycles (or on roads that require vehicles to be registered and have certified parts).

Good answer. Yes, it's up to every jurisdiction to create their own ordinance (what it's called in my jurisdiction). Most don't. Thus, the question. My state has 0 legislation for anything above 750. My city is the same, as are most. Again, it's why I asked the question...And doubt me all you want. But kind of a weird user name if I wasn't?

Dunno, but this is what it says in the description.
"Note: This products have been certified under UL2849 safety standards."

Take it for what it is.

My state, it's still an e-bike.
