Junk without buying the additional rechargeable battery online. Otherwise you will be burning thru D batteries

I got one yesterday. Used eneloops with d cell adapter and it works fine for $8. Their battery is $32.

So the rechargeable version (link below) is $29. This one + the additional rechargeable battery attachment, will be $39. Any suggestions which is better? I will use maybe once a year during a weekend camping trip.
