The least they could do is equip it with 64GB RAM. $1900+ for integrated graphics and 32GB is just-plain hilarious. The industry really missed the mark on the pricing for these new Intel chips.

Honestly I risked a negative deal score because but new gen IPL laptops are getting released with high MSRPs. So this is a deal for the current scene after all. For IPL, cheapest one I saw was MSI 14 FHD 60Hz OLED for 1299 but it is rapidly discontinued/delisted. HP increased its MSRP on 16 inch model but Costco is selling 2TB SSD config for 1499 but it is a bit heavy. New models such as Asus Expertbook is rumored to be exorbitantly expensive. Acer may release "more affordable" but I dont think we will see a nice X358H/32GB RAM/1TB SSD and 120hz OLED laptop for less than 1500 for some time.

I agree that this "wave" of computers are going to have bad pricing, especially higher-spec 32GB and 1T models. I would be targeting "last years" models that are being cleared out if you need a new laptop.

That is not unlike the last-generation chips. Many 258V laptops were $1500+ but with Panther Lake out now you can have them for under $800, and often (particularly Acer refurbs) under $600. There is always early-adopter tax for most PC components.
These will inevitably trend down to $1000 and eventually less -one must only wait a year.

Yes this is the one I mentioned. It appears to be the "cheapest" 16 inch and actually any X358H in the market for now. 1TB version was released with 1449 MSRP but then jacked up to 1899. This one is a bit heavy though with 4.3 lbs. There are 3.3-3.5 16 inch models in Arrow Lake and Lunar Lake. Also for Panther Lake too.

I thought maybe Acer will come up with a more affordable models but NO. X9 388H 32GB for 1999. X7 358H with 16GB is 1599 and 32GB is 1899.

IPL with B390 iGPU and 32GB RAM along with a nice OLED screen is definitely a high premium product now and basically 2K with tax.

oops I'm an idiot.. you actually mentioned that specific deal I linked before I linked it.. must have glossed over it or been excited lol..

maybe the msi prestige flip 14" https://us-store.msi.com/Laptops/...3MTG-001US will be the cheapest x7 358h .. I think the pre-order button on that page comes and goes with availability.. but I believe 1299.99 was the original MSRP on the omnibook x 1tb from bby before availability got crazy and prices started going up.

my Ideal panther lake model would probably be something with an entry level ultra 5 355 in a 14" with an actually good keyboard and maybe an IPS non-touch screen something with a huge 70-99wh battery in a 14" would be awesome.. they'll never make it though or it would be 2k+ maybe an updated T14s ? anyways..

Of course not. We are trying to find and share deals and that's all. It is the lowest price IPL for 1299. Was able to pre-order from B&H and MSI website but it is not available now. It is not for me either as I would be looking for Ultra X IPL with B390/B370 iGPU, 16 inch 120Hz OLED screen and configured with 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD in a package of 3.5lbs or less. They exist but their prices are 1899 and upwards. I believe I will call off the search and either wait for BF 2026 discount season or will get an M5 Macbook as I can use Windows via virtualization in it too. If Macbook Air 15.3 had 120HZ screen even if IPS I would just get a 24GB/1TB MBAir and would not look for another device for another 5 years.
What makes IPL next gen for me is the new B series iGPU which is included only in the X SoCs.
