Astro Bot is a charming PS5 platformer that feels like a modern Mario style adventure, with standout polish, strong replay appeal, and plenty of free DLC levels. The game keeps players coming back, works especially well for younger or newer gamers, and even shines as a family playthrough. The main knocks are its short length, lack of difficulty settings, and a few platinum chase levels that can frustrate. It is also rarely on sale, though the listed price has shown up differently for some accounts.

  • Players who want a polished 3D platformer, because it is called excellent and compared favorably to Mario-style platforming.

  • Completionists chasing platinum trophies, because it stays compelling enough to keep returning for one more level.

  • Families playing together with young kids, because the platforming is top notch and stays fun as a shared playthrough.

  • PS5 owners wanting a short showcase game, because it is one of the best PS5 experiences and easy to finish.

  • Players who want long campaigns with lots of replay value, because it is pretty short and can feel finished after one clear.

  • Achievement hunters who dislike spike levels, because a couple stages can become aggravating when going for platinum.

  • Players who need adjustable difficulty, because the game has no difficulty settings.

  • Players who bounced off Astro's Playroom, because this game may not hold their interest either.

Every time this game comes up the praise is through the roof. It has a lot of charm and looks good. but it's just an ok platformer. It didn't hold my interest and if you played astros playroom and didn't care for it then pass on this.

Clearly for same audience as Mario, little big planet, etc. Younger audience will enjoy.

Had a blast playing through with my kids. The game is top notch. I honestly can't play Mario Odyssey after playing Astro bot.
