very solid combo - just annoying that nearly all of Gigabyte's boards top out at 2.5Gbe when MSI and ASUS are already leaning into 5Gbe and up.

If you're wondering about the board, it's the same as MC has been using for at least a couple years now. The 9700X bundles I bought last year for $379 used it, and I've not had any customer builds with issues yet. Some of the newer MC bundles have much worse budget motherboards, fyi.

dunno why the thumbs down, 9000 series is a significantly more efficient cpu that translates to less power and heat. its much easier to manage the occasional "spin up" noise without having to invest in expensive cooling solutions.

I need to upgrade my PC that can't run Windows 11. My main requirements are 4+ SATA ports (I have an SSD, 2 HDDs and a DVD burner), dual video out, and at least 1Gb ethernet.

I'd also love to keep my existing 500W power supply. I heavily prioritize quietness (i.e., low heat) over performance (this is a home office computer, not a gaming rig, although I'm hoping to do more personal photo management post-upgrade).

And I'd love if it lasted me another 10 years. (my current CPU and MB are from 2014 and still chugging along fine after a RAM upgrade a few years ago--it's the Windows 10 EOL thing that's killing me.)

With the price of RAM these days, this 9700X bundle seems like a solid deal. Is it the right choice for me?

Also, will my 500W power supply (spec sheet here: https://www.evga.com/products/Spe...796640508d) work with this board, which appears to have an 8+4 CPU connector? The PS spec sheet says it has a 4+4 CPU connector, but I wonder if I can combine that with one of the PCIe or peripheral 4-pin connectors? Or do I actually need a new PS?

pcpartpicker.com is your friend. Add everything in there and it shows how much power you PSU draws or if it's incompatible.
