oh nice! I didn't realise they had put out a new one. The old buttons were a real pain to change the batteries.

It has dimming in the sense that its just a button that you can command to dim and undim on a press.

Yes, if you create a scene and use the button to activate that scene.

Wish they kept the same form factor as the Button V1. There's no reason for it to be so big

So true. My current button has been dead for months because every time I try to change the battery, I fear I'm going to break it.

The V1 with the wall mount is over double the length.

so: its currently broken and the worst that can happen is... it becomes permanently broken? change the battery or throw it away and buy this

The V1 button has terrible battery life; probably the smart device I've changed the battery on most often, even though it gets very little use. the batteries in the motion sensors seem to last 2-3 years even in high traffic areas. I have to change this stupid thing several times a year for usage that would be better classified as weekly rather than daily.

I like the V1 form factor for setting it down on a flat surface, but I can't imagine mounting it on a wall. this new button looks like it would have a lot more wall mount appeal. but I'd personally rather go the route of Hue's "tap dial switch" or "dimmer switch" (which sometimes falls off the magnetic wall plate when pressing it)

that's odd i was just thinking the opposite. the v1 battery has outlasted most of my bar's. weak wifi signal maybe? errr distance from hub

What am I missing? This sounds like the worst deal ever. You get a single button for $25? Unless you really need the button aesthetic, you're much better off buying the four button remote.

Your friend has shared a link to a Home Depot product they think you would be interested in seeing.

If you buy more than one 4-button remote, it's even cheaper than this freaking button.

I was thinking about these for our two bedroom nightstands. It's a bit of a pain to unlock the phone to turn off the light and we go to bed at different times, so to have a button on each nightstand would be more convenient than only one remote for both lights. I'm new to this game so suggestions are welcome and $50 for two nightstand buttons is a bit much.

I read the description. It is on and off only or is bound to a scene in the Hue app.
