This is a very cheap corned beef round, best for low and slow cooking rather than brisket-style slicing. The cut is leaner than brisket, so the texture can be firmer and drier if it is not cooked carefully. Cooking ideas include crockpot, Instant Pot, or an overnight soak to cut sodium, and the seasoning packet works well with beef broth. Availability is location dependent, but the deal has been active with free shipping in some areas.
Common Questions (5)
Low and slow works well for this leaner cut, including a crockpot on low or an Instant Pot for about 80 minutes. Some also use beef broth with the seasoning packet, then finish with a longer cook for tenderness.
The deal was still active in multiple areas, but availability was location-dependent and could show out of stock in one ZIP while being available in another. Checking back later can help because restocks were reported in several areas.
Package weights varied a lot, with six packages totaling 9.76 lb in one order and 14.52 lb in another. The reported use/freeze-by date was 5/12/26, and freezing extras was a practical way to store them.
Yes. Soaking it overnight or for about 4 hours with frequent water changes can reduce sodium while keeping good flavor. One method also uses the cooking juices later for au jus.
No. This cut is round, not brisket, so it is leaner with less marbling and can be firmer or drier if overcooked. It has a milder, meatier flavor than the usual point or flat brisket cuts.

and also, still in stock around me(oregon)
so how are we cooking these things in 2026? Still boiling it? I was thinking crock pot on low since this is a leaner cut.
The ones my son received were 14.52 pounds which seems reasonable, almost 2 and a half pounds each. I don't mind small packages, as they are charging for the actual weight, but I don't think I've ever seen these so small. Maybe cook 2 at a time...
Edit: Have no idea how they came up with the order total. All the packages except 1 were over 3 pounds each. Free food, my favorite kind.
And as mentioned above, use/freeze by date is 5/12/26.
