For those interested.
There is a current rebate on this item, however REBATE is NOT valid on Walmart.com. It is valid in store at Walmart and requires a B&M cash register receipt.
Typically price is $5--7 more in store, if your local store will PM to the Walmart.com price, you can get the rebate. It isn't clear if getting a PM in store is a sure thing as haven't located a firm policy on their website. if there isn't one, it is up to store discretion. So YMMV of course. Be sure to read and understand the rebate specifics before you head to Walmart B&M so you know what purchases and documentation is required to submit for the rebate.

Pennzoil Platinum Full Synthetic looks like a solid midrange synthetic oil, with the deal landing especially well when Walmart matches the online price in store and the rebate goes through. The comments point to good value at $23.37 per 5 quart jug, and some even note the high mileage version and Ultra Platinum rebate options. The main catch is the rebate process, which has been inconsistent and sometimes requires a physical Walmart receipt or extra follow up. It is a practical pick if you can get the store price and handle the rebate paperwork.
Rebate submissions can succeed when the receipt and documentation meet the promotion requirements.
In-store scanning can match the online price for some shoppers, lowering the out-of-pocket cost.
Free delivery can apply when buying two jugs through Walmart+.
Pennzoil Platinum can be a Group III+ synthetic option that may be materially better than Group III synthetic oil.
Rebate approvals can require extra invoice documentation, which can add hassle after a denial.
Pennzoil rebates can be denied when the receipt is from Walmart.com instead of a physical B&M register receipt.
Rebate claims can be declined due to receipt details such as missing buyer name.
Pennzoil Platinum is not viewed as high-quality by some shoppers, who recommend alternatives like European-spec or Ultra variants instead.

Used different names, addresses. Used same credit card for few purchases 2 bottle per transaction, had 1 rebate that couldn't find in my email so I contact them and they just resent me an email with the rebate.
Can I still participate in this year's rebate that Exp 8/2026?

Hello,
I submitted the Pennzoil Rebate Claim #U3PXGTXXXX on 3/15/26 along with picture of my receipt of an in-store purchase at my local Walmart store, showing two 5-qt bottles of Pennzoil 0W20 Full Synthetic.
I checked on 3/25/26 and the status showed the claim was Declined because it didn't meet the promotion requirements. I called 1-888-232-5988 the same day and a rep said it was declined because the receipt didn't show my name. The rep agreed with me that receipts of in-store purchases at Walmart don't show the buyer name. He said he would escalate my claim to a higher level and I should receive an email response in 1-2 days. It's now over a week later and I haven't received any update or change in my claim status.
Would you please review my claim? Thank you.

Hello H Pham
Thank you for reaching out and for providing the documents.
I've reviewed the rebate, and it appears it was declined because we need to verify some additional information. To move forward, we'll need the dealer where the tires were purchased to email us directly with the original invoice . Once we receive this, I'll be happy to escalate the case to our higher-level support team so they can review and validate the invoice.
Please let me know if you have any questions or if there's anything else I can assist you with—I'm here to help.
Best regards,
Pablo

It's the USA...follow the $. Rebate house gets financial incentives for rejecting X% of submitted rebates. You're the unlucky X%. Return and repurchase only the oil printed on one receipt. Scan the receipt if possible and circle the date, store name, transaction number, and products. Your chance of success is now +95%.
and it isn't FREE after rebate, you're still paying a decent amount OOP. it's also a tax write off for them. Educate yourself before posting false information.

Tax write-off is not $1 for $1. You failed IRS tax code 101! You're the one that lacks common sense. BTW, Pennzoil (SHEL) is a publicly owned company with ~3% yield. Management is not paid to run promotion for tax write-off.

Of course its a means of limiting rebates, but this is SD, read the comments how many people went to the store and did it. The rebate savings more than pays for your gas.
and where did I say it was $1 for $1 tax write off. It's still a write off, whatever the % benefit winds up being.

- Fact #1...limit online submission cause product is selling below cost after rebate.
- Fact #2...company lose $ if all rebates are approved. If one factor in rejected rebates, and those who did not submit, the promotion will end up making some $ for Shell.
It's a horrible deal if you're one of the individual on the random rejection list. Paying 2x for your time and 2x gas, and get nothing.

They could easily put wording in their rebate T&C that you must spend a minimum of $x.xx for the oil to qualify for the rebate to avoid taking that PM'ing ding. That's why it still doesn't make sense...they leave a pretty large loophole open to pay $4-5 less per five quart bottle and still get the rebate.

The manufacturer does not want to alienate the retailers by invoking minimum purchase price. That would be translate to don't buy item at Walmart because it's cheaper than Autozone. Again, I know that commonsense is hard to find.

Obviously there is no such opportunity with Amazon lacking B&M locations.

Some expensive oils do provide better wear protection, but the long term monetary benefit is miniscule vs. present cost. Most of the engine wear comes from the dirt (silica) ingested at the engine's intake. 14.7 part air to 1 part fuel. Older engines are more susceptible to cracks developing on intake plastic and rubber parts. Unfiltered and unmetered air also introduces false signal to the mass air flow sensor. The dirt stays in the engine until you mix up the hot oil and drain as much as possible overnight. Common knowledge among pros for decades.
Note that a moderately dirty air filter captures more dirt. Replace the filter element only when it's difficult to see sunlight thru the filter element. You're not running at the indy 500, so peak power is not in play.
Oil is an incompressible fluid. Cheapest ways to minimize metal to metal contact: good oil pressure and mass flow rate. 30 psi oil pressure at 300 rpm is a good starting point. Unfortunately, today's trend is to squeeze out mpg using electric oil pump putting out less than 10 psi at idle.
