What a ridiculous $24 inflated price.

They might as well have said $100 marked down to $3.95. THAT'S A 96% DISCOUNT. See what I did.

As an FYI after about a year going thru the dishwasher the numbers will wear off.

That's why we handwash it instead. Sure would be nice if they could etch the measurements into the glass, but that defeats the planned obsolescence and your replacement purchase in @2 years. Anchor Hocking depends on that steady stream of revenue, so don't expect any consumer improvements.

This Anchor Hocking glass measuring cup is a handy everyday kitchen tool, especially for small jobs like melting butter, mixing drinks, or keeping a second cup ready while the first is in the dishwasher. The 2 cup size gets the most attention, and the 1 cup and 4 cup versions are also useful for recipe scaling. The main drawback is the printed measurement marks, which can fade with dishwasher use or utensil contact. The price also appears to be the regular Menards price, so the value is strongest when you can grab it locally at the listed pickup price.

home cooks who want a simple 2-cup glass measuring cup for everyday cooking because one commenter said it's "pretty much the only measurer I cook with."
BraveFog2423
people who need to replace an old or missing measuring cup because a commenter ordered the 2-cup "I've been needing to replace mine and waiting for a deal like this."
BoxerDogMom
recipe cooks who often need odd amounts like 2.5 cups because someone bought the 4-cup specifically to avoid an extra trip to the faucet when a recipe calls for 2.5 cups.
Jimmy_O
buyers who can pick up locally at the listed price because commenters said it's great "if you can pick them up at this price," but not worth it if you have to spend more to meet a threshold.
SplendidLake9030
people who don't mind avoiding the dishwasher for printed items because one commenter said they never put anything with printing in the dishwasher and were willing to "roll the dice" on the 4-cup for under $6.
unkn_dealer
home bakers or cooks melting butter who want a convenient 1-cup size because a commenter said "1 cup size is great for melting a stick of butter for your recipes."
keithinphx
people making mixed drinks or using a slushee machine because a commenter said they were looking for a deal on one to use with their slushee machine to make mixed drinks.
RelaxedPenguin2752
households that often have one measuring cup tied up in the dishwasher because a commenter said getting a second one is worth it since "when you need it, the first one is probably in the dishwasher."
truckduck

dishwasher users who rely on long-lasting, readable markings because multiple commenters reported the printed numbers wear off after dishwasher use (e.g., "after about a year going thru the dishwasher the numbers will wear off").
glbbrown NotBuscemi
people comparing against Pyrex who want markings to stay readable for years because commenters said their Pyrex markings held up better over years while the Anchor markings faded to the point they couldn't be read.
Scubaslim NotBuscemi
buyers who need the deal to be truly discounted because one commenter said the sale price is basically regular price ("just the regular price, maybe a buck or two cheaper at most").
FancyWinter592
shoppers without local pickup who would have to pay extra shipping to reach a threshold because a commenter said their area has no pickup and shipping added $6.99 since the order was under $35.
DealerNoDeal
people who want a measuring cup with embedded markings that won't fade from printing because a commenter pointed to an alternative with markings embedded in the glass "no print to fade."
tbielowicz
people who frequently scrape or strike the measuring surface with utensils because one commenter said the markings won't last and that wear happens from utensils repeatedly striking the surface (e.g., scrambling eggs).
TunaSushi
buyers who plan to put the cup in the dishwasher regularly because a commenter said the description says dishwasher safe, but the markings still wear off if you put it in the dishwasher.
NotBuscemi
shoppers who can't get it at the listed pickup price because commenters said if you have to spend $35, "pass."
SplendidLake9030

The 1-cup size works well for melting a stick of butter for recipes.
keithinphx
Getting a second measuring cup can help when the first one is in the dishwasher.
truckduck
The 4-cup size can reduce extra trips to the faucet for recipes needing 2.5 cups.
Jimmy_O
The measuring numbers can be easier to read than faded Pyrex markings in some comparisons.
AAMC27

Dishwasher use can cause the printed measurement numbers to wear off after about a year.
glbbrown
The dishwasher-safe description can be misleading because the markings may fade if washed in the dishwasher.
NotBuscemi
Shipping can add $6.99 when pickup is unavailable and the order stays under $35.
DealerNoDeal
The sale price may be close to the everyday price, making the discount feel minimal.
FancyWinter592

Common Questions (4)

Yes. The printed numbers can wear off after repeated dishwasher use, sometimes within about a year, and utensil contact can also abrade the markings. If you want the scale to stay readable, hand washing or a cup with embedded markings is the safer choice.
glbbrown NotBuscemi Dragun TunaSushi
Some Pyrex cups have kept their markings for years, while others have faded in the dishwasher, and the Anchor cups here are reported to fade more easily. The practical difference is that the printed scale on these Anchor cups may not stay readable as long as older Pyrex or glass cups with embedded markings.
Scubaslim TenseGuitar2345 walletNgromice Dragun
At Menards, $3.97 is described as the everyday price, so it may not be a special sale. It is still a low price for a glass measuring cup, but if you have to add shipping or spend to reach a $35 threshold, the value drops quickly.

Even if you already have one, getting a second one is worth it because, when you need it, the first one is probably in the dishwasher.

I have a Pyrex 2c glass measuring cup that looks identical to this, but it's about 20 years old and all the numbers are still like new. *Quality matters*

Our 5yo Pyrex has faded in the dishwasher but our 20yo Pyrex has not. I'm not sure if it's possible to buy quality any more.

Like everyone else is saying, the markings won't last. Also, the one I bought shows wear from utensils repeatedly striking the surface (scrambling eggs, etc.).

This is the every day price at Menards if you have one by you.

Also, they have a 8 oz glass w/ lid cover, with markings embeded in the glass... no print to fade.
