This carpet cleaner stands out for deep cleaning carpets and pet messes, with repeated praise for its commercial feel, strong build, and ability to pull up dirt, grit, and stubborn stains. It is especially valued in homes with dogs or cats, and the Pet Pro version adds an upholstery tool and larger soap bottle. The main drawbacks are its weight and the effort needed for stairs or whole house use, plus a few reports of leaks or a faulty valve. A heavy duty pick for carpet owners who want serious cleaning power.

  • pet households who want to deep-clean carpets a couple times a year because commenters say it makes a huge difference for pets and cleans way better than cheap vacuum-like cleaners.

  • owners with multiple pets who need to tackle frequent messes because commenters report using it at least once a week when they got a second puppy and at least once a month later.

  • people shopping specifically for pet-stain removal who want the extra upholstery tool and larger soap bottle because commenters say the Pet Pro model is basically worth the small price difference since it includes an extra upholstery tool and a bigger soap bottle you'd otherwise have to buy.

  • homeowners dealing with dog urine accidents who need odor and stain rescue because commenters say it saved their carpet and removed the worst smell after a missed accident.

  • carpet owners who want a durable, long-term machine for tough jobs because commenters describe it as built like a tank and still working like a charm even after about 10 years.

  • people who plan to clean whole rooms (not just quick spots) because commenters say it's excellent but takes effort across multiple rooms and isn't like vacuuming.

  • buyers who want an easy, light machine for whole-house use because commenters warn it's very heavy and can feel like a full-body workout when used top to bottom.

  • people who need to clean tile floors because commenters say Bissell doesn't recommend it for that use case and the Lowe's version they rented lacked a tile flooring adapter.

  • buyers who are relying on the deal's attachment/points flow to make the purchase worth it because one commenter says it required extra attachments and the Slickdeals points/credits sign-in code failed, making it not worth the time.

  • buyers who want a smooth first-use experience because commenters report units that leaked horribly on first use due to a hose connection issue and required returning for a replacement.

  • buyers who expect everything in the box to arrive correctly because commenters report missing the included cleaning formula (only receiving the machine and hose).

so I purchased my rug doctor on facebook market place... and I have used it about four times since buying... each time to clean the carpets of a vacant unit. Paid 125 for mine and it had the hand held attachment which is perfect for a car or sofa.

Does the code work on the "Pet" version? Is the pet version worth the extra 30 bucks? Seems like the main machine is the same with a different color scheme.
Code will work on both models. Makes it about a $20 difference between the pet model and the standard model ($344 before tax). From what I can tell, the main machines are exactly the same, with just differences in the color and handle. Exactly the same brushes and power. The pet model includes an extra upholstery tool and a larger bottle of soap (48 oz vs 8 oz), which is basically worth $20 itself and you need to buy it anyway. Going for the Pet Pro.
As an aside, I purchased the steam model a few weeks ago and returned it after being unhappy with how it performed. This is the one I really wanted, but this puts them pretty close on price.

Bought one 2 yrs ago. I use it 2x a year b4 the Holidays and after in the late spring - after the mud from spring rains. If you own pets this makes a Huge difference. Its a bit more expensive than the cheap vacuum like cleaners, but Its cleans way better.

I bought this when I got my second puppy. Used it at least once a week back then lol, and at least once a month these days. You MUST vacuum thoroughly before cleaning if you have pets though.

I got one of these, the pet pro model about a year ago, use it about once a month and it does a great job. The flow control indicator malfunctioned, water spraying out, and Bissel's response was telling me to mail it back for free service. I found the part on amazon for $6 and a youtube video showing how to replace it, took 5 minutes and worked perfect.

This may be due to using extra hot water. Use warm water, not hot. Also, another good tip is spray the soap/detergent directly on the carpet, then use only water in the Bissell. This way on your final run through you're not putting more soap in the carpet. Just clean water.

What yall recommend for 1-2 times a month giant cat puke? Currently got the Bissell spotbot (little green machine died after 20 years) but it takes over 10min just to do 1sqft.

I used to have a small handheld Bissel I used to spot clean. Once I bought this, I never went back.
It works way better.
We have a no-shoe house and 1 indoor cat. I shampoo the entire house 2-3 times a year.
Even when I spot clean in between, I'm amazed how much dirt and grit this sucker pulls up.
After 2-3 years of no use, we gave our spot cleaner away. (We live in a 1 story house and store this in our garage, so I only ever have 2 steps to navigate. It is not on the lighter side.)

I used extra hot water first time I used it and it leaked everywhere. The directions say Use Hot Water so I assumed it was fine, but apparently not.
