Great deal! Just don't buy the "true ending" expansion DLC at full price ($35), it goes on sale for around $10 every other month lately. Another sale should be coming up any day now.

Is this game any good? Did it not sell at all when released? It's been consistently on sale for the past year and this is the lowest I've seen. Should I expect it to go to $10 or should I pick up now?

Atlus always over prints (or undersells) their games. But years later, rabid fans will drive up the prices. Happens with every release.

It's a remake of a 20-year old game. There are some QoL improvements, but doesn't have other QoL additions that made Persona 4 and 5 much better games.
It's a good game, but I'm struggling to finish it myself.

This is the one of the games that you DO need game guide next to you.
Without walk through /game guide, there are so many missing elements.
And even with game guide, some fight is really hard especially the secret boss.
That is the basic of Persona/Megamitensei series, game itself is really good, but I suggest go with Persona 5 first, if you like that, you will enjoy it, otherwise you should skip it.

Already beat this on PC game pass a long time ago. Wonder if I should get this now or just wait for a steam sale. I've never seen the steam price drop this low.

I beat P5 and loved it however I read that P3 gets grindy repetitive. At $15 though, sounds like a great deal for a 70 hour game.

I loved P5 and I'm worried that this is similar but just not as good. And suggestions?

Great price. Is this going to have a "royal" version?

Almost certainly not. The epilogue is already available as DLC.

"Similar but just not as good" sums it up pretty well. The biggest point of contention is the dungeon presentation: Persona 3 is just one megadungeon that sprawls hundreds of floors, rather than the thematic dungeons of Persona 4 & 5. However, the characters in Persona 3 are far more likeable than Persona 5's (subjective of course, but I thought most of the characters in P5 were stuck-up little shits😅) and the game compares favorably in every other way (story, music, UI, school life sim portion.) If you enjoyed Persona 5 for its gameplay and wouldn't mind another 50+ hour go of it, this is well worth $15.

Edit: just realized I forgot to mention the combat -- it's largely the same idea as P5, except you fight a variety of enemies instead of the Personas, and instead of the SMT-style negotiation ("Hold Up") to get them to join you, there's a mini-game after each fight that sometimes lets you recruit Personas. (There's also the Velvet Room for Persona fusion, which is also largely the same.)
