I have this bike and it's a great little bike.

- twist throttle
- capable of 28mph
- short wheelbase so a bit squirrelly
- heavy

I have this and the e26 version. E26 is software limited to slower speed (I forget for sure but 19 or 21 mph I think). I wish it was faster because it's more of a commuter bike than the e20. E20 is great for farm use and the beach when we visit family on Lake Michigan. Smaller for hauling and big tires ride nice on dirt and sand.

BOTH bikes are too aggressive on the pedal assist and mildly dangerous when first starting to pedal. Major con for anyone elderly who could be accidentally thrown off and tossed on the ground due to the jolt. I'm not talking actually "thrown", but I wouldn't want my mother on these because she's old enough that falling from a bike onto pavement is always going to be a risk. Google this, but the twist throttle helps and just managing the pedal assist levels helps.

You might want to laugh but electric bikes get the elderly and disabled out and around to places they may not be able to enjoy or get to. They even have three wheelers mountain bike racing leagues for people with severe paralysis.

Even for healthy young people they may just be using the ebike to some other activity they want to save their energy for. We recently did a 30 mile sightseeing trip along the C&O Canal and could visit a small town restaurant and museum without being worn out, tired and sweaty. Hard bike riding does wear out joints and causes injury to ligaments, tendons and muscles.

I am not laughing but a bit disgusted that some people can be so narrow minded they can't imagine a world bigger than theirs and assume all others have the same needs or wants they do.

Bought mine 2 months ago for $330.

Great bike! go uphills easily. Reaches 28MPH with full battery. I'm 6' tall and the size is ok for me.

Pedal assist isn't natural, but I use my legs only 1% of the time.

It is a sleeper, that's why I love it. Very powerfull but looks like a 300W.

Description says it ships from a US warehouse. Does that mean there is not a tariff charge on top of the price? Why can the link not state the motor at 500 or 750 watts instead of saying 1000 watt peak?

Aliexpress includes tariffs in the cost you pay them. You won't get ambushed by UPS like when you order overseas from random European retailers.
"Why can't they state the motor at 500 watts" Because 1000 watts sounds better and people don't understand what "peak" means, just like cheap audio equipment that always states peak power rather than RMS.
I think the E26 (26 wheel version) is a much better bike for most. It has a lower top speed, but the big bicycle wheels are much lighter and roll easier, so you will go much farther for the same amount of effort. The huge tires on the E20 also don't fit in a lot of car racks. But the E26 costs a little more right now, about $320.

Any suggestions for a comparable bike that reasonably price that I'm not just 10# short of the weight limit?

Which E26 bike would you recommend? I am in the market for one (never owned one).

Exactly my experience, loved this bike initially even posted a glowing review but the overly aggressive pedal assist and some other issues (motor would suddenly stop or skip, ghost pedaling was extreme) caused me to have some dangerous crashes.

Someone posted you can turn off the auto pedal assist completely by disconnecting a wire and then just use the throttle to accelerate if I would have kept it I probably would have done this.

The pedals are horribly slick, replace them immediately before you ever ride.

The good thing was it was so cheap I was able to sell it for about what I paid.

The weight limit is a legal standard, these bikes can handle much more than stated weight limits.

What kind of range are you getting with throttle only?
