I have this bike and it's a great little bike.

- twist throttle
- capable of 28mph
- short wheelbase so a bit squirrelly
- heavy

I have this and the e26 version. E26 is software limited to slower speed (I forget for sure but 19 or 21 mph I think). I wish it was faster because it's more of a commuter bike than the e20. E20 is great for farm use and the beach when we visit family on Lake Michigan. Smaller for hauling and big tires ride nice on dirt and sand.

BOTH bikes are too aggressive on the pedal assist and mildly dangerous when first starting to pedal. Major con for anyone elderly who could be accidentally thrown off and tossed on the ground due to the jolt. I'm not talking actually "thrown", but I wouldn't want my mother on these because she's old enough that falling from a bike onto pavement is always going to be a risk. Google this, but the twist throttle helps and just managing the pedal assist levels helps.

Exactly my experience, loved this bike initially even posted a glowing review but the overly aggressive pedal assist and some other issues (motor would suddenly stop or skip, ghost pedaling was extreme) caused me to have some dangerous crashes.

Someone posted you can turn off the auto pedal assist completely by disconnecting a wire and then just use the throttle to accelerate if I would have kept it I probably would have done this.

The pedals are horribly slick, replace them immediately before you ever ride.

The good thing was it was so cheap I was able to sell it for about what I paid.

Aliexpress includes tariffs in the cost you pay them. You won't get ambushed by UPS like when you order overseas from random European retailers.
"Why can't they state the motor at 500 watts" Because 1000 watts sounds better and people don't understand what "peak" means, just like cheap audio equipment that always states peak power rather than RMS.
I think the E26 (26 wheel version) is a much better bike for most. It has a lower top speed, but the big bicycle wheels are much lighter and roll easier, so you will go much farther for the same amount of effort. The huge tires on the E20 also don't fit in a lot of car racks. But the E26 costs a little more right now, about $320.

All these AliExpress E-Bikes appear to have been on hibernation for past few months. With Spring around the corner, they appear to be finally coming out

How would I find a size smaller but of similar style and quality? I'm not as familiar with the ins and outs of Aliexpress or sure what to trust.

What kind of range are you getting with throttle only?
I can't actually say what our range is. We always use pedal assist (even with its issues) and I don't think we've ever done more than 10-15 miles in a weekend. I always top them back up and unplug them for storage. I'd be they get well over 40 with pedal assist.

Just to chime in on the aggressive pedal assist. There is a new controller out that fixes the jolt/too fast initial pedal. I have 2 of these bikes and they replaced the controller on the earlier one I ordered for free. No aggressive start anymore.

I heard of it and although Im against sales tax in general (inhibits spending and growth), it is hard to disagree with the decision since not having presence in a state should not grant tax exemption. It would encourage retailers to avoid physical presense in certain jurisdictions and gain competitive advantage.

But Wayfair is a US company, how are they going to enforce Aliexpress?

Direct link to the controller you purchased specifically or the model?

Do not put this bike outside when it's raining. My controller got water damage so I ordered a new controller from their website and it works perfect. ($60)
The new controller has way better pedal assist. It's very subtle and not dangerous as the old one.

Great bike. Yes, it's really heavy. Never handled another electric bike so can't really say if it's worse than others. The pedal assist is sudden as others have mentioned. My only complaint really is that the controller isn't really very customizable. I wish you could limit the speed for when the kids ride it and I wish you could tune down the aggressiveness of the pedal assist. There is a secret menu you can enter, and some of these function are even available but they don't work. If someone here has any tips or tricks on how to program the controller, please share anything you have! Overall, great bike, half tempted to get another one at this price.

Which E26 bike would you recommend? I am in the market for one (never owned one).
One of many E26 sellers here, https://www.aliexpress.us/item/32...79066.html
Code USAS45 for $45 off
There are a lot of sellers for this ebike and the E20. You might find it cheaper if you look.

Use code USWB45, for $45 off. This bike is $30 cheaper than last November when I bought it. I would disconnect the auto assist and just us the throttle. The assist is too fast.
