I have this bike and it's a great little bike.

- twist throttle
- capable of 28mph
- short wheelbase so a bit squirrelly
- heavy

I have this and the e26 version. E26 is software limited to slower speed (I forget for sure but 19 or 21 mph I think). I wish it was faster because it's more of a commuter bike than the e20. E20 is great for farm use and the beach when we visit family on Lake Michigan. Smaller for hauling and big tires ride nice on dirt and sand.

BOTH bikes are too aggressive on the pedal assist and mildly dangerous when first starting to pedal. Major con for anyone elderly who could be accidentally thrown off and tossed on the ground due to the jolt. I'm not talking actually "thrown", but I wouldn't want my mother on these because she's old enough that falling from a bike onto pavement is always going to be a risk. Google this, but the twist throttle helps and just managing the pedal assist levels helps.

Exactly my experience, loved this bike initially even posted a glowing review but the overly aggressive pedal assist and some other issues (motor would suddenly stop or skip, ghost pedaling was extreme) caused me to have some dangerous crashes.

Someone posted you can turn off the auto pedal assist completely by disconnecting a wire and then just use the throttle to accelerate if I would have kept it I probably would have done this.

The pedals are horribly slick, replace them immediately before you ever ride.

The good thing was it was so cheap I was able to sell it for about what I paid.

Aliexpress includes tariffs in the cost you pay them. You won't get ambushed by UPS like when you order overseas from random European retailers.
"Why can't they state the motor at 500 watts" Because 1000 watts sounds better and people don't understand what "peak" means, just like cheap audio equipment that always states peak power rather than RMS.
I think the E26 (26 wheel version) is a much better bike for most. It has a lower top speed, but the big bicycle wheels are much lighter and roll easier, so you will go much farther for the same amount of effort. The huge tires on the E20 also don't fit in a lot of car racks. But the E26 costs a little more right now, about $320.

The site isn't charging the correct sales tax amount. It's way over. Anyone else notice this?

Direct link to the controller you purchased specifically or the model?
I shot an email to them and they replaced it using my frame number /information. Their new controller is listed on their main website though. Both of mine were ordered through AliExpress.

That's true but can you bike up to 60 miles? I did a bike ride with a friend the other day. We did a 30 min trail ride super fun on e-bikes. I also have a mountain bike, and a road bike to exercise if I want to LOL . E-bikes comes in handy after a heavy leg day.

I bought this bike around Christmas time for slightly less than what the current price is. I can stay at my love it and that it stays charged forever. I have not had one issue with this bike in the four months that we've had it and it's a great bike for the price. Disconnect the pedal assist after finding a thread for that online because it appeared to be very dangerous. The disconnect with as simple as taking two wire harnesses apart and requires no electrical abilities at all.

You might want to laugh but electric bikes get the elderly and disabled out and around to places they may not be able to enjoy or get to. They even have three wheelers mountain bike racing leagues for people with severe paralysis.

Even for healthy young people they may just be using the ebike to some other activity they want to save their energy for. We recently did a 30 mile sightseeing trip along the C&O Canal and could visit a small town restaurant and museum without being worn out, tired and sweaty. Hard bike riding does wear out joints and causes injury to ligaments, tendons and muscles.

I am not laughing but a bit disgusted that some people can be so narrow minded they can't imagine a world bigger than theirs and assume all others have the same needs or wants they do.

Just to chime in on the aggressive pedal assist. There is a new controller out that fixes the jolt/too fast initial pedal. I have 2 of these bikes and they replaced the controller on the earlier one I ordered for free. No aggressive start anymore.
Please tell me more about this controller!? Or point me to some good threads for info Smilie

I bought a teal color E20 skeptically in late October for around $320 and got good money back from one of the sites that had a high percentage back. The bike shipped in about 3 days and is fairly heavy in the box. Delivery poked a hole in the box but thankfully it didn't rain inside before I moved it to the garage.
My intention was to put it together, ride it a couple of times and sell it. I'm 6'-6" 225 and was impressed with the bike! Assembly was fairly easy but took about 3 hours for me and I am decent with tools, but that time took into account turning it over, unplugging the pedal assist, wrapping the exposed wiring with duct tape, and sealing the wiring holes with tape. If you don't, water can get into this controller and possibly ruin the electronics.
Pedaling in low gears is nice, and I pedaled without throttle assist around 8mph up a large hill here in my neighborhood. With assistance it was 14mph uphill. Top speed for me at a slight downgrade was around 25mph. Mechanical brakes were actually pretty decent.
I sold it to a fellow who was giving it to his daughter for Christmas, and I sold it easily for $400. I really didn't want to sell it!

Do not put this bike outside when it's raining. My controller got water damage so I ordered a new controller from their website and it works perfect. ($60)
The new controller has way better pedal assist. It's very subtle and not dangerous as the old one.
Does the controller look different? I wonder if these bikes on sale right now come with the new or the old controller.

I still do not trust buying one of these. It seems like to good of a deal to be real/ a good product.
China may beat us to Mars, they can make a nice ebike at a low price point and they have glut of them to get rid of. I have three generic china bikes going on four years now with occasional use and all have been fine. I paid about $700 which was the going rate at the time and am not dissatisfied with any of them. I am guessing this is similar or a bit better in quality.

If automakers, Apple Dewalt, Milwaukee, Costco, Lowes, Target and most all retailer are not afraid of china good why would you be.

I don't get the train of thought where using a bike was for exercise only... I would think that the purpose was for transport and these offer that mode. If you don't want motor assisted transport that's fine but still, seems to be a lot of people with this "bikes are for exercise" train of thought that I just don't understand at all... What, are you only supposed to use a car then? I just want to go pick something up somewhere and I can take a bike or a car to do it. I'm not doing it for exercise only... I guess to each their own but it's such a weird stance to take on this, very one track mind going on...

I can't actually say what our range is. We always use pedal assist (even with its issues) and I don't think we've ever done more than 10-15 miles in a weekend. I always top them back up and unplug them for storage. I'd be they get well over 40 with pedal assist.
FWIW, it's a really bad idea to "top them back up" for storage. Lithium-ion batteries should only be stored with around a 50-60% charge for safety & battery longevity. Storing them too low is bad as well. Li-ion is a very "goldilocks" chemistry.
