People are paying $16/kg at Microcenter, emptying the shelves of $15 spools at Hobby Lobby, and still paying Bezos about the same or more. In the grand scheme of things $11 PLA is a decent enough deal to be posted.

Not everything is a race to the bottom, and not everyone wants to use jayo.

In that some companies sell for more does not make it a good deal. Plenty of posts where where PLA is around $8/spool.

Who says Jayo or the others are a lesser quality? They are not.

if someone wants to pay $11/spool for PLA in quantity, they are welcome to. Still does not make it a Slickdeal... just a daily price.

I wouldn't say this is bad deal. Its about what I would expect to pay for decent PLA. Yes you can pay less but once you start hitting under 10 dollars a spool you start seeing soom questionable names. I don't mind paying a little extra for brands I trust. I'm sure you can get some good quality PLA for less but I just figured why, at some point buying the cheapest isn't always worth the risk when you are talking about an expensive 3d printer.

This... it's a pretty good deal on a respectable brand and that is regularly available. If you really print a decent amount you don't just buy the cheapest deal you can find because finding a few brands you settle in on will allow you to calibrate and fine tune prints to the specific filament brand/type which can make a definitive impact on print quality.

I'm not saying this is a bad deal and that quality can cost more but brand names don't guarantee this. Elegoo is usually good but it is also the ONLY filament that has ever caused me huge problems that were not my own fault. To the point that Elegoo sent me replacement parts for my CC and free filament. They don't acutally make this stuff, who knows if Jayo or any others are not the exact same thing or better or worse? Don't blindly trust a brand name or higher price.

Pretty much it is.

Properties are the same. All can have issues.

I could say Jayco makes good stuff. Same difference.

To be honest I'm not sure. I had a roll of Elegoo PLA (can't remember the exact variant). At first it stopped printing and would clog my nozzle. I dried it and cleaned everything up. Same thing after several layers. Changed hot ends, same thing.

I then noticed that the part I pulled out of the extruder had teeth marks on it from the gears so I took that apart and cleaned everything and changed filaments. No problems, everything printed fine.

A few rolls later I remembered that I still had this mostly full roll of filament and put it back on the printer. Same thing happened again. Clogs and gear marks. I took it off and threw it away.

I took pics along the way and contacted Elegoo. To their credit they sent me a new extruder and a new roll of filament but I have never had this before and like I said in general Elegoo works great for me but so does 99% of the cheap stuff I get. This was the only really bad roll I ever had that I could not fix at all and it happened to be a brand name so I know the brands are no guarantee.

I completely agree. Paying $2-3 more per kilo for a known quantity that will show up on my door step in less than 24 hours is worth it for me.
I do have 20ish rolls of filament from AliExpress from a variety of cheap brands, but when I am producing something for someone else or on a timeline I prefer a known quantity.
