The Quest 3S deal stands out for PCVR and media use at a very low price, with some reports of fast U.S. warehouse delivery and units arriving working normally. The headset can run Android apps, sideload software, and use third party USB C power injectors or a pocket power bank to avoid battery drain. The main concerns are AliExpress shipping and refund reliability, plus uncertainty about authenticity, warranty, referral credit, and whether the seller is truly U.S. based. A few comments also note Meta ecosystem and future support worries, making this a tempting but cautious pick.

Common Questions (5)

  • AliExpress purchase protection can help, but shipping disputes may still be hard to win if the seller provides fake tracking or delivery to the wrong address. A credit card chargeback may be the most effective fallback if AliExpress sides with the seller.

  • Yes. It runs Android, so you can sideload apps or use PCVR, and a third-party USB-C power-injector cable can reduce battery drain for wired use. The practical downside is that Meta account/data concerns and PC streaming limitations still matter for some buyers.

  • Some orders may ship from a US warehouse and arrive in about 4-5 days. The listing also appears to be from global sellers, so shipping origin can vary.

  • It is a strong price, but not unheard of: similar Quest 3S deals reportedly dropped into the $160s during the last holiday season, and Walmart has sold it for $250 with a game. That makes this listing attractive, though not necessarily the absolute lowest ever.

  • If it arrives and connects to Meta services, downloads games, and functions normally, it is likely genuine. The main risk is not a fake headset but a scam listing that ships nothing, a wrong item, or a used/refurbished unit instead of a new one.

I LOVE my Quest 3. But, just for those that haven't heard yet, Meta is more or less getting out of the VR business in favor of "wearables" (glasses). They shuttered a bunch of VR development studies, put others on life support, and laid off workers everywhere.

TBD on how useful this headset will be going forward.

Meta cut 10–15% of its VR division, mostly internal game studios… big loss for fans of another Batman VR. Quest 4 is expected next year. As for buying a Quest 3s from that site… hard no. No promises it's new… you could get no warranty, no referral credit or even a $60 Batman game (depending on where you buy it from). I'd pay the extra money to be safe.

As long as you aren't neck deep in the Meta ecosystem for whatever reason, they'll be just as useful as they've always been.

They run Android, so you can always sideload apps or use PCVR.

The only unfortunate part is that native development of new apps will probably dry up, as there aren't other headsets running Android anymore.

And for existing content, I'm pretty sure the Quest piracy scene is just as alive as ever. If Meta stops selling it, then it becomes abandonware.

Is this the lowest the 3S has been? I'm kinda tempted to ditch Steam Frame if this is how low these things are gonna go, I'll still wait for the Frame to launch just to be sure.Like, I was pretty dead set on Steam Frame but more and more I realize its not ideal for how I like to use VR... I don't gain anything from being wireless, that infact adds more cost and hassle to me. I don't like charging vr headsets, nor the limited battery on Frame (3hrs streaming at most), which would require additional bulky batteries, their added costs and hassle of managing charges. Not for me. I want a wired PCVR first and foremost. Steam Frame has no way WIRE connect to a PC, since its economically built, i.e. nothing extra, Fully Focused on Streaming (3 Hrs worth) and Wireless Onboard compute (which runs for a whopping 1 hour). Big Meh from me on that for myself, everything else about it is so stellar, the optics, the steam integration/no meta bs, fov'eated rendering is an absolute gamechanger. But fk me I cant get past the Battery reliance.I was semi interested in the Viture line of glasses, while not the same as PCVR, they are so useful as a supplemental set, atleast for my use, Training/Tutorial media consumption and creative productivity uses, could grab one for like $140 it seems, but their proprietary adapters are such a rip off, $50 for a charging adapter so I can plug it into my Note Phone for Dex while getting charged, and like 70 or 80 for the unweildy HDMI adapter (since my 3080 doesn't have a USB-C with Display Port output). Basically a closed hardware/peripheral ecosystem. Get the glasses cheap, but spend a ton more on the stupid peripherals where you're better off spending the same on an actual quality VR set.The Quest 3S somehow seems to hit all the Checkboxes for me (almost). At this price point, for PCVR and Media Consumption or Productivity, with No Power hassle ($25 for a number of third party USB-C cable with a power injector for PCVR without battery drain). And has onboard compute, not to mention that exclusive Piano learning app I've been really enamored by. Leading Hand/Finger Tracking tech, arguably the best Controllers (the Steam Frame ones are allegedly cheap and lacking). The only issue, and its a supermassive one... is Meta. The account requirement, which sure, you can make a dummy account, but its still Meta collecting all sorts of data every time you're using it for 'analytics'. I don't trust them. Unless there's a jailbreak... I don't think I can go their route. (though maybe its possible to keep it offline if you're doing Wired PCVR? Google AI says sure outside of periodic updates, but its Meta... how much can I trust its not leaking data periodically when it does see a connection to server)I'm sorry, I've talked myself in a circle and none of the options are good as I lay it out.Steam, why did you have to lean so hard on Wireless Only?! The Frame was supposed to be the ONE. But, actual PCVR enthusiasts would probably prefer a wired connection's stability and unparalleled latency. Like I'm not playing competitive games in VR, but I can't imagine something like Racing games will funciton well in any Streaming environment, Foveated or not, it can't beat Wired. Not to mention Battery reliance.and Meta. Get your head out of my a-hole with your ANALitic collections. You bought Oculus, made enormous strides in the tech at such an appealing price point, then squandered it all into spyware garbage.sigh....Now I'm back to thinking the stupid expensive Big Screen Beyond 2 is the only real option. sigh. sigh. sigh. sigh.

Where did you read that the steam frame would be exclusively wireless? If it has a USB c charging port, why wouldn't we be able to use that for wired PCVR? Sure, the frame may be focusing on streaming, but I've read nothing that indicates it's streaming only.
The USB C is for charging, the data stream is usb 2.0. Usb 2.0 is duplex, meaning limited to one direction of data travel only, not to mention the severely limited bandwidth. Google it, you'll find your answer. Its a Streaming Only device because Valve had to make it as cheap as possible, so they couldn't even afford to slap on USB-C with Display Port (DP Alt Mode).

I don't think this is true, you can use 3rd party adapters with any of the main brands (Viture, xreal, Rayneo) including USB-C and HDMI ones.
Not quite, it seems to be hit or miss, some things are compatible, but not fully (like you'll get a limited 60hz and not the native 120hz), some aren't. Additionally, Viture Peripherals seem to receive a lot of flak for becoming expensive paperweights if not used for the glasses. Also If you want their 6DOF, or PC Streaming, you need to pony up $300 for their neckband which has onboard compute (since the glasses themselves are just glorified Displays), or $150 for their Mobile Dock thing, which again, no use elsewhere. These expenses rack up fast. For a device that's supposed to be so lean in the form of simple Sunglasses, it has so many janky expensive peripherals to deal with. I'm sure its good for some people, I'm just listing why its appeal diminished for me once I started researching how to get it to work for my use case.

Noted. I do really like it, deep price cuts, OLED, Great optics, Eye Tracking thats finally supported on PC, BUT, it has one absolute glaring flaw on the PC side of things, look it up. Consistent Drift/Jitters/Stutters for Head Tracking.... Just basic head tracking!
DOA if that's the case.

your covered by aliexpress purchase protection and it works... i spent tens of thousands a year with them and have not had losses. sometimes the items are already in USA and only takes 4-5 days to deliver.
chances are you are not buying things that are setting off alarm bells though. there are people who buy super expensive rare collectibles on ebay, but there is also a history of people getting scammed and ebay didn't always make it right. Remember the days of people selling "XBOX 360 BOX" and just shipping the empty box?
I would say there is almost a zero percent chance an actual meta quest 3s is being sold for this price. they are probably hoping someone buys it as a gift and they either ship something else or use fake tracking and hope the gift giver doesn't contact the person to confirm what they got. Or they just hope you are too busy to hassle with trying to prove you were scammed and take the loss. If you fight it hard enough im sure you can get your money back, but even then the seller just claims it was a mistake and they aren't out anything.

Had shitty experience with ali express. Scammer will ship a rock to another address and Ali express will say delivered. Even if it doesn't go to your address.
Same here, when something is too good to be true. Most of the time is a scam.

The problem with AliExpress is that they don't protect the customers. They knowingly protect the sellers when they clearly are doing shipping scam. They claim to send out items and have no proof. But AliExpress choose to believe them over you. Yes your credit card company can back charge but its a real hassle and waste of time.
