Every time I look into something like this, my head starts to spin. My mother lives in a manufactured home and power randomly goes out during bad weather. Could this be set up by an electrician to be a backup source for her? The idea is to keep lights, fridge, clocks, and maybe TV powered during an outage.

Look into a manual switch with 50 amp generator plug to a back up battery. You get can one that's 3kw and higher. It won't run the washer and dryer or ac. But it will keep all the things you listed without breaking the back. Will cost cost you a few thousand or more tho

This is exactly what it does. Yes, you should ask electrician install a "POWER TRANSFER SWITCH BOX" to 50AMP DOUBLE BREAKER of home electric panel. They charged $500 at my sister house. I know how to do it. So I do it myself. But you need to teach her how to use it to charging and power up the house.

Here is my "POWER TRANSFER SWITCH BOX or POWER INPUT BOX". Call whatever you want 😀:

Our power rarely goes out for more than an hour so I went interlock kit. They are breaker panel specific so you'll need to find out what model breaker panel she has and see if they make one for that model. This plus$200 in parts she could have lights, fridge and Internet/computer for hours. She'd have to go to the breaker box when the power goes out and turn off the main power from the poles and switch the input on, or leave this inverter on and just move some circuits to a sub panel. A lot of ways to do it depending on your budget.

My parents are on a separate meter for their well water and never had water when the power went out. I bought one of these from ecoworthy's ebay store and set it up as a UPS for their well pump. It works pretty good but there has been two times in the last 6 months that the inverter says it is in bypass mode but the well pump doesn't kick on. A flip off of the grid power breaker puts it back to inverter mode and a flip back on it goes to bypass mode and it works again.

This sounds like a classic (and unfortunately common) bypass relay fault on the EcoWorthy 5kW hybrid inverter (the SRNE-rebranded HFP/HYP4850U100-H or similar 48V 5000W model sold on their eBay store).
Contact the eBay seller immediately — EcoWorthy has replaced units for this exact bypass issue when still under the 1-year warranty. Send them a short video of the display saying bypass + output voltage reading 0 V. Several people got free replacements.
Might want to add a soft start.

If I buy this to back up my house which already has solar, what else do I need to do? Buy a power transfer switch and get it installed and that's yet?

YES, it supports BOTH INPUT AND OUTPUT 240V SPLIT PHASE.

L1 = 120V
L2 = 120V
N = NEUTRAL
PE = GROUND

Great that you have solar panel already. This system is just what you need to backup your house. And get electrician install "Power Transfer Switch Box" like mine: https://ibb.co/7twW8FNB

You could do "HARDWIRE" as well. Hardwire don't need power transfer switch box. You wired directly from INVERTER OUTPUT L1, L2, N, PE to electric panel DOUBLE BREAKER 50 AMP.

Most homes have solar that shut off when utility shuts off. So as to not electrocute the lineman working on the power lines.
