My power company accepts online payments with PayPal. I just made two seperate advance payments for $50.25 and PayPal rewards now says I'll be getting 2,000 points ($20).

Well this sucks. Just got an email from paypal.

Amendments to the PayPal Rewards Program Agreement
Effective: August 1, 2026

Please note that certain features of the PayPal Rewards Program are being updated as follows:

The option to redeem PayPal Rewards Points for cash back into your PayPal balance account or directly into a linked bank account or linked debit card will be discontinued.
The option to redeem PayPal Rewards Points for cash back deposited into a PayPal Savings account will also be discontinued.

If you would like to redeem your PayPal Rewards Points using either option listed above, you must do so before 11:59 PM Pacific Standard Time on August 1, 2026. Alternatively, you may explore other available options to redeem your Rewards Points, for example, by redeeming at checkout.

A data point: Steam games platform is having their Spring sale. In two separate transactions I purchased a $50 Steam wallet card and checked out with PayPal. Near immediately afterwards the promo progress tracker updated to 2 of 2 complete on PayPal's website.

Yes it can. I had the spend $30 four times offer. I bought something from Dick's for $29.99 + tax. It counted as one of my 4.

I got buy 2 x $50 get $20 back. I also got a buy $50 get $25 back offer for Ebay from Capital One. Will stack that offer with Paypal to get $45 back on $100.

So here is a data point. The points got credited today, which I promptly redeemed to cash and moved to my bank. I had purchased two giftcards of $50 each on 03/17.

Target has B1 get 10% off 2nd airtime cards. Feels like a waste to not use the 5% Circle/Redcard discount, but Target.com does take Paypal.
This will also help satisfy select Circle bonuses, such as making multiple $40 purchases to receive a Target GC.
