What do people use this for? Or is this a solution looking for a problem kind of product?
I refuse to ever buy or use front loaders, I like to be able to close the washing machine lid and not worry about mold

That being said, wiping the gasket off with diluted vinegar is probably ok assuming you wipe it down again afterwards.
Also,some washers have a cycle to just run it empty to "clean" it
