I thought the longer the stroke, 1" or more was more efficient at cutting.

These aren't that great. The single handed Milwaukee ones are worlds better.

Yeah, I'm a big Makita fan, but this tool is pretty useless. The newer brushless model is supposedly pretty good, but this older one is really not worth the cost even this cheap...
