I mean... 4 months ago this would have been downvoted into oblivion. Nearly $500 for a mini pc with a 4 year old intel chip, no Oculink, Iris graphics instead of any capable Radeon...
I suppose there's a usecase here, but this seems pretty weak, even with March 2026 ram prices.

That RAM sells for $250 on the used market as is.. thats half the cost of the machine..

Like I said with its shortcomings, I would've expected this in the $289 or $329 mark. You are correct, ram inflates the price heavily.

Would I be better off using this as a Plex Server or another MiniPC with the Ryzen 7 8745HS? I know the Ryzen GPU is more powerful, but I believe that Plex generally better supports transcoding with Intel chips (w/ Intel Quick Sync specifically). Can anyone offer some advice on which I would be better off going with? Thank you!

Yes, official Plex support is better with Intel and Nvidia gpus. AMD is unofficially supported but you need to follow some guides to set it up.

Would this be usable for a PFsense setup? It has 2x 2.5gbe lan ports and 32gb RAM. Seems like a good fit. I've been meaning to try a setup for some time and never got around to it.

Probably a bit overkill.

Pretty decent performance, 32gb DDR5 and with USB4 for adding an eGPU.

Bummers that this one doesn't have oculink, even with the "Plus" in the model naming. NAB "Plus" models had oculink included.
