About month ago I tried to to use one of these official coupons at my local GC (Hillsboro, OR) and they actually had a sign up saying that they no longer accepted coupons. Pretty lame, so YMMV.

Honestly, it's a gamble. Some people are good, some less good. I've never had anything terrible happen, but my hair is easy and mistakes don't show much (long with layers). The problem is the high turnover usually means you won't see the same person twice. Regular salons are at least 50 bucks, often more, just to do the most basic haircut. I choose to risk it here and use my money on other things.
P.S. I am actually a big fan of the Great Clips line of shampoos and conditioners. They last a long time and work well. The clarifying shampoo is really nice.
