This Ryzen 5 9600X bundle pairs a solid midrange CPU, 16GB DDR5, an MSI B850 WiFi 6E board, and an included liquid cooler for a price that lands around fair current value. The CPU and motherboard are described as good deals on their own, and the cooler makes the RAM feel like a modest add on rather than a full retail charge. The board is seen as budget oriented, with no PCIe 5.0, though that is unlikely to matter much for typical use. The cooler is overkill for the 9600X, but it adds useful value to the package.
People assembling a Ryzen 5 9600X system who are okay with a "budget" motherboard tradeoff because the B850-S is described as about as budget as they build for customers, and the lack of PCIe 5.0 likely won't be very noticeable for typical use.
Shoppers who value having an AIO included even if it's more than the CPU needs because the bundle effectively makes the liquid cooler "free," and the RAM ends up closer to where it used to be priced once you subtract the CPU+motherboard cost.
PC builders who want to buy the CPU, DDR5 RAM, and a Wi‑Fi motherboard as one bundle because you're basically paying the local FB Marketplace price for all 3 plus a free cooler, so it can be a decent deal at current pricing.
Buyers who have a Micro Center nearby because one commenter says if you have Micro Center nearby, no, it's not a good deal, and they chose a Micro Center 7500X3D combo instead.
People who are trying to maximize value by comparing against combo deals without RAM because the deal is called not great if you benchmark it against a Newegg combo without RAM for $290, where the RAM is effectively the inflated part.
Shoppers who think the included liquid cooler is unnecessary because it's described as overkill for the Ryzen 5 9600X (even if it's "free" in the bundle).
It is a decent deal for current pricing, but not a standout bargain. The CPU, RAM, and motherboard are estimated around $520-$550 at launch pricing, and the bundle effectively adds the liquid cooler for little or no extra cost; nearby Micro Center or older Newegg combos can be better value if available.
If you have a Micro Center nearby, similar bundles there can be better value, and a recently expired Newegg combo without RAM was cited at $290. The RAM in this bundle is effectively priced around $90, so the deal is best judged against current local bundle pricing rather than old MSRP.
The board is noted as lacking PCIe 5.0, but that is unlikely to matter much for typical use. It is also described as a budget B850 board, so the tradeoff is lower-end features rather than a major performance hit.
Yes, the AIO is overkill for the Ryzen 5 9600X, but it effectively comes free in the bundle. That makes the cooler a value add even if the CPU does not need liquid cooling.
That's up to you to decide. Can you get a different bundle with similar specs for cheaper? Do you consider 27% off a deal?
As a reference, I purchased a similar bundle that also included a free AIO for $320 but this was back in Dec/Jan and I don't know if prices have gone up or down since then.
"Based on launch-day pricing from August 2024, before recent price reductions or "rampocalypse" bundle discounts, the estimated total MSRP for the AMD Ryzen 5 9600X, a 16GB Team Group DDR5 RAM kit, and an MSI PRO B850-S WIFI6E motherboard was approximately $520–$550.

AMD Ryzen 5 9600X MSRP: $279.
MSI PRO B850-S WIFI6E MSRP: ~$149–$169.
16GB Team Group DDR5 RAM (6000MHz): ~$90–$110 (Based on standard, non-discounted DDR5 6000MHz pricing, and considering similar 16GB kits)."
Not including the AIO so I'd say not bad, not amazing. RAM and CPU prices are still inflated and not using the greatest value mobo but that may be a good thing
Yes.
All 3 bought separately is $590. The CPU + motherboard separately are $340, both of which are good deals on their own. Meaning, with the bundle discount, the RAM is only a $90 add-on ($430 bundle - $340 CPU+mobo), which is much closer to where the RAM was priced 3+ months ago. (At that time, you could get it for $80 regularly and under $60 on sale, but we have to accept that those prices are gone and will be for quite a while if the trend continues.) PLUS, it comes with an AIO liquid cooler.
You're just going to get 10 variations of the same response saying it's better than full retail. If you have a Micro Center nearby, no, not a good deal. Newegg also ran the combo without RAM recently for $290, if you want an idea of what it's worth without scalped RAM included.

For my own knowledge, because I must have missed this deal, but wasn't the NewEgg deal $290 for a motherboard built on the older 650 chipset rather than a direct comparison? Again, I might have missed it.

You've missed something if you think older means worse. This B850 is about as budget as I've built on for customers. The B650E you've already looked up obviously, is a better quality board.

For those of us who aren't math majors, how much would your currently-non-existent "deal" (with different parts) cost once you add this RAM back into the purchase? Is it as simple as $290 "deal" + $250 RAM = $540 total, which counts on fingers is more than $430 or ... ? Surely you're not arguing that not-buying RAM is less expensive than buying RAM, because I think that's something we can all pretty much agree on, Mr. Holmes.
The recently expired Newegg deal for $290 is mentioned to give buyers an example of a similar combo with a better motherboard and without RAM. This helps buyers understand the actual value of RAM at the vendor, instead of user response retail MSRP calculations. By reviewing better priced options at Micro Center, for example the 7500X3D, 7600X, and 7600X3D bundles, the buyers can also make a better judgement about pricing at Newegg.
Personally, I have a large stock of OEM DDR5 from customer upgrades, prior to the RAM shortage, but for those that do not, I recommend looking for local deals on OEM kits, as many users upgrade shortly after purchasing an OEM system. Those used modules are currently in the $100 price range for 16 GB.

Hey thanks for this info! I was just about to pull the trigger on the Newegg combo, but the 7500X3D combo at MicroCenter is a steal.
