The Era 100 stands out as a compact Sonos speaker that sounds bigger than its size, with real bass and easy whole home audio use. Refurbished units have arrived sealed or in pristine condition, and the Sonos refurb packaging and full 2 year warranty add confidence. The USB C port can be used with Sonos' line in adapter to hook up a record player, though the turntable needs a built in or added preamp. For home theater surrounds, it works best as a paired set, while the Era 300 is mainly the step up for Atmos and larger rooms.
The refurbished Era 100 can arrive in pristine or sealed condition and operate like new equipment.
The Era 100's USB-C port can connect a record player to a Sonos system for whole-home audio.
A single Era 100 can be sufficient for whole-home listening when grouped with other speakers.
The Era 100 can be used to add bass to a whole-home setup by controlling a Sonos Sub.
The Era 100 can work well as a smaller-footprint surround option when Atmos listening is not the main priority.
The Era 100 cannot be linked as a surround speaker by itself for home theater surround pairing.
Using the Era 100's USB-C line-out setup requires a record player with a built-in preamp or an added preamp.
The Era 300 may be a better choice for Atmos-focused surround because it includes upfiring speakers.
The Era 100 may be less suitable for surround setups where a larger speaker footprint is acceptable and Atmos content is frequent.

If you have never bought Sonos refurbs directly from sonos you are in for a treat. The packaging is incredible; they look and operate like new equipment, and they come with the full 2-year warranty.
One Era100 is so much better than any of the higher-end Echos. I replaced our bathroom Echo with one, and the Era 100 has real bass and uses Alexa or Gus Frigns' voice for the Sonos Assistant.
I also have 2 Era 300s, which I think is overkill for most rooms. I split those up into different rooms. If I had to do it again, I would only get the Era 100s because the 300s are pretty big. Don't get me wrong, the 300 is an awesome speaker, but for basic music in the dining room, it is overkill. For surrounds, they are overkill. However, a single or 2 in a room, even without a sub, will sound great.

I used the adapter to connect an auxiliary cable to my record player. The catch is your record player either has to have a built in preamp or you have to add one.
This Youtube video walks you through it pretty well:
