I have a different point of view. I have the 83" G5. I had a specific space I wanted to fill and the 83" filled it better than the 77". Every single person that buys the 83" over the 77" KNOWS they are not getting a huge jump in screen space. Those very same people could have spent their money on the 77" but decided to purchase the 83". As stated above, moving from a 65" to a 77" will appear to be a huge jump. Moving from a 65" to a 83" will appear to be an even bigger jump. Only the person spending the money can "really" determine if it is worth it to them. I also have the 77" Samsung s95f and s90f and I do notice the difference in size between the those two TVs and the 83" LG. Back to the price, it is a great price for the 83".

I know every inch counts but is upgrading from a 77 to 83 inch really worth $1000? I currently own a 65
I'll add other view points to consider.
A couple of big things you're paying for with this is a tandem Oled panel & better processing.
Often people point to brightness as the advantage and yes may help with a bright environment.
That's only one of the advantages though.

If PQ is a major concern, ideally you should have your display calibrated ime.

This all starts with content, contrary to popular belief, this does not fix inferior content.

In general terms your viewing distance should be over 10ft for this debate.

To me it is. I just signed up with my Hulu account and scored this deal. Im upgrading from a 2018 65" B1 or B2 model that looks tiny in my family room and has been suffering from burn in and color and remote control issues. I had weighed and considered going with the more affordable 77" model and my price point was $2000 for years but none of the previous 83" inch models ever came down that low. However, I knew that if I settled for the 77" model I would still be hunting for a deal on the 83" tv. Id love to have the 97" but at a price to size ratio, the 83" is the sweet spot for me so I upped my price point to $3300. Almost went with the Verde toe offer at $3721 but glad i let that expire and jumped on this deal.
Not sure why would someone buy another oled from the same company if they are experiencing significant issues within a few years. But to each their own.

In this case probably not.

But going from 65" -> 77" can definitely be worth it, assuming you have the space for it.

To add another point on the distance to size debate, I have a 65" c2 that was in my living room, approximately 12ft viewing distance from sitting back on the couch. I bought the 65" g5 and sound bar with sub and satellite speakers combo back in October (for the same price I paid for c2 without surround, newest Gen at the time) and moved the c2 into my bedroom. The bedroom viewing distance is about 10ft, and a little less than 9ft with the TV mount extended outward. The improvement of viewing distance especially with the mount extended is, IMHO, a much greater improvement over the, albeit visually awesome and surprisingly noticeably better, upgrade of panels from the g5. I'm happy with both but I literally tell friends and family, I'm not sure which got the better upgrade, my bedroom (which had an older edge lit LCD) or the living room with the sound bar/surround sound. Either way, they are hella nice setups.

Side note, the provided flush mount g5 wall mount is badass and 1/2 and 3/4, barely stick a piece of paper between it and the wall, but GD!! That thing was hard to mount with a small entertainment center in the way. It comes out like 8-10" max and it is HARD to get that thing on the mount without standing against the wall lol

TLDR; bigger is better than panel upgrade, at least going from older c model OLED to newest flagship g model OLED. However, LCD/LED to OLED is much better upgrade if staying same size, IMHO.

I was in same boat 77" or 83"
Went to Bestbuy and spent a good minute comparing both sizes and eventually went with 77"
83" isn't much bigger in how big picture looks to spend the difference they are asking. For better immersion if you can swing it, go with 98-100"
on a side note, having lived with 77" G4, i wish i had gone bigger and with other cheaper tech. OLED wasn't as dramatic as i thought and my G4 pops and crackles when watching anything remotely bright

I had a 65" and bought a 75" TV, it was fine, but just last month I bought an 83" LG C5 for $2300. If your space can handle the extra size, it's better to go bigger. The real question would be whether it's worth the extra $850 for the G5 vs C5. For me it wasn't because the C5 is plenty bright for my room.
Also, here are the size of the screens in Sq Inches which is more informative than just the 77 to 83 comparison:
65-inch~1,805 sq. inches
77-inch~2,534 sq. inches
83-inch~2,944 sq. inches

1) It is a 14% size increase to go from 77" to 83". That ain't a minimal change in size, although the price increase IS 2x of that on a percentage basis.
2) Looking very hard at the about to come out G6 and new C6H (which uses the same panel as the G5).

55" = ~1300 sq inches
65 = ~1800 sq inches (+500)
77" = ~2500 sq inches (+700)
83" = ~3000 sq inches (+500)

Asking for opinions on what TV size is worth is very pointless. It's completely subjective. That is something totally up to you to determine. You're just going to get people on both sides of the fence, and then you'll be exactly where you started, still wondering if it's worth it. Have someone hold a measuring tape up diagonally for you while you sit back and see how each size looks. If you can't do that, then go to a store and check them out.

Attempt to sign up with your work email or, if you have Hulu, that works too.

Just bought this last night with the stand since I didn't want to deal with wall mounting. Total came to 3658 after tax. Should I keep the order or cancel and get my offer for a C5 at 2519 after tax, thoughts?
