Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2019 is being praised as a polished campaign shooter with active multiplayer and cross play lobbies, and the six dollar price is seen as unusually low for a game that rarely drops much below twenty. The biggest catch is the huge install, with comments putting it around 200 to 230 GB and noting that only selected DLC content needs to be enabled. There are also repeated reports of crashes, freezes, anti cheat or account lock issues, and a third party Activision account requirement. A strong nostalgia pick if the technical baggage does not matter.

  • Players with plenty of free storage who want a large install, because the game can require roughly 200 to 230 GB before you can play.

    llong91ejaywillieNovatoTenderCatfish192

  • Campaign players who want a polished military shooter, because the single-player mode is described as fun and the game is called the best-polished Call of Duty.

    llong91OrangeKite2617Slayeroflight

  • Multiplayer fans who want active cross-play lobbies, because the game still has populated matches across console and PC.

  • Players with limited SSD space, because the install can take roughly 200 to 230 GB before you can start playing.

    llong91ejaywillieNovatoTenderCatfish192

  • Players who want a stable PC shooter, because it can crash mid-game and freeze the computer.

    JFaydrsnowmondrsnowmon

  • Steam Deck or handheld PC players who want to launch the campaign, because anti-cheat can block the game even in single-player.

I can confirm that these companies are now just selling vaporware games. Garden Warfare 2 is just like this with Level 46 bug. These companies know this and dont do anything to fix these bugs that not only make the game unplayable but also accounts getting locked across the board. Unfortunately, these companies need to be penalized for doing this to the end user.

I tried playing this one my ROG Ally and got blocked. And I only tried to play the campaign. These anti cheat systems are cursed.

Name issue aside, how's the game? Is it fun? Is it worth it otherwise?

I have no issues. Seems to run fine for me so far. Multiplayer is NOT dead if you care about that and have plenty of cross play console players in lobbies. In my opinion it has lesser SLOP content and the best maps that feels like a war zone but large/small enough to be a decent arena. (I'm probably the minority that's tired of the predictable 3-lane formula.) If all you want is one of the best COD campaigns, 6 bucks is a steal for this one. Just make sure to go to your DLC setting before you download and install so you only download the content that you want to play and not the entire 200+ GB.

It's annoying how they named this game... so confusing having the same exact name as the original one...

I'm going to give it a try though...

Just an FYI this is Modern Warfare 2019. Didn't come out on Steam until 2023 though (hence the release date)

From reading comments/reviews, it's still full of cheats, but if you can manage to not get your username flagged for no reason the campaign could be fun.

Thank you for the tip, because I fell asleep waiting for the 200 GB to download. I'll check it today.

"Game will require a 3rd-party Activision account". I really miss the CD install days.

Game crashed multiple times and one time couldn't boot my PC afterwards. I had to reset the battery. Beware..
