YMMV - MINISFORUM UM690 BAREBONES $189 After discount code FB30

This is a BAREBONES computer, meaning you have to supply your own DDR5 SO-DIMM memory module(s) and NVMe drive! Both of those are very expensive right now, but this could be a good deal if you have pre-AI price jacked parts that you can install yourself.

NO OPERATING SYSTEM - if you are looking for a plug and play Windows computer, this is NOT for you!
  • AMD Ryzen™ 9 6900HX (8 Cores/16 Threads)
  • AMD Radeon™ 680M (Graphics Frequency 2400 MHz)
  • DDR5 Dual channel (SODIMM Slots ×2) NOT POPULATED
  • M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 SSD NOT POPULATED

Where does this ship from? Will there be extra tariffs or fees?

Edit: It says "Duty-Free for US & Canada ' Tax/duty included for eligible regions" on the product page so I'm assuming the answer is no. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I really want something with a 780M IGPU for emulation. Every time I see a deal on the 680M I talk myself out of it.

Mine shipped from China (very quickly, maybe 5 days to east coast) - I used PayPal and my total was $200.34 ($189 plus 6% PA state sales tax).

They are also selling "Tariff insurance" for $35 if you look at the bottom portion of the page...

It doesn't inspire confidence does it? Of course they are like us and don't know what the tariff rate may be tomorrow or the next day.

Been thinking about setting up a standalone machine to run OpenClaw. I see people recommend a Mac Mini, but I'm curious what else I should be looking at. I haven't paid attention to CPU markets for years, so I don't really know where most of the mobile CPU/APUs rank anymore. Thoughts on something like this this to run an AI assistant at home? It'll probably just call Claude, but I'd be interested in running local models for fun.

Yeah. Just like all those sellers on AliExpress who quote "import fees included", and then you get a tariff bill from the carrier.

I've actually been seriously considering getting one of these to replace my mother's old Dell desktop. About the only thing she does is play Youtube videos and Farmtown. Obviously, this would easily be able to handle that.

There have been a couple of decent Geekom, GMKtec, and AceMagic deals recently but I keep talking myself out of it, thinking that I should just build an AM4 system instead.

I also see this 780m deal on amazon for a BOS Game M4 Neo Ryzen 7 7840HS (>i9-13900H), No RAM, No SSD, W11 Pro, 1.2lb Mini Gaming PC w/Radeon 780M iGPU, Oculink, WiFi 6E, Triple 4K Display (HDMI/DP/USB-C) & 2X RJ45 (by_BOSGAME) for $199.99

I've heard of the brand but don't know anything about their quality. The seller has also had some recent bad reviews.
