Not a good deal unless it drops $200 more. M5 gives you a 512 SSD that is 3-4 times faster which is important for swap especially with the base 16 RAM. Other additions such as WiFi 7 and AI acceleration might be important to those who keep their Mac's for 4+ years.

Those who don't need this urgently, and Apple refurbished is OK, Apple sold a similar model for $849.
It is currently out of stock but will be back in stock from time to time.

I bought a refurb M4 with those specs for $745 but all these reviewers praising the Neo, should I wait for a refurb Neo instead? I already have a gaming PC so do you think refurb Neo (512gb) will go down to $400-450? I feel like that be a better deal for my use case.

idk they just released it so it might take a little while before dropping. Still 512 GB with 8 gb of RAM vs M4 at 16 GB for 745, I would say M4 is a better deal. Depends on how much you wanna wait.

Apple Refurb is the way to go. Comes in a nice white sealed refurb box that would be hard to tell it's not new (small refurbished printed on it) Apple standard warranty and you can add apple care. Ours was perfect. Saved some good $$$
