The problem comes to having the metal posts at the edge. You'll definitely want to cushion it. I've used those foam protectors you buy to protect kids for furniture edges/tables. I had to use velcro straps and zip ties. I guess you can use foam pool noodles as well. You definitely want to put them around the posts. I put them on the horizaontal bars at the edges as well.
Now to find a deal on a Queen mattress...
