Weird. Would have pulled the trigger otherwise.

Thanks for sharing this. Can I ask what speed your's rates at? The listing for this one (in multiple stores) says 22mph, but their direct website clearly states 25km (15mph). I live in a pretty safe suburb of Chicago with great roads, so I have less concern about the tires at this point along my envisioned commuting routes (from home to the grocery store etc). But 15mph to 22mph is a big jump in my opinion and worth causing me to reconsider unless someone with real-world travel experience on these in my type of scenario can advise otherwise.
In 3,000 miles I've wrecked several times and glad I wasn't going any faster when I did. All of them were my fault. I always wear a helmet and bike gloves or a couple of them would have been hospital disasters instead of riding off with a few scrapes. You do fall less awkwardly than you do when you go down on a bicycle, however.
On paper it sounds like faster is always better, but unless you have an open road commute where the faster speed can safely make a big difference in your trip, this is plenty fast enough.
Sounds like assisted suicide

The only other part I'm thinking through (since I've never had a scooter) is if there are any preferred lock types for e-scooters vs regular bicycles? Meaning, when parking at the grocery store on a bike rack (which I'm assuming the grocery stores will have, haven't looked for them per se). I was thinking of something like the below which has 4 feet of give on the cable, or a non-combo pure steel one like the second below.

I'm able to cruise at 18 MPH without an issue.
Uphill is tricky, but can get up most of them. There's one by my house that's pretty steep and I have to kick/push it up. Probably close to a 15% grade.
At this price it's a no-brainer. I paid $220 each and it was a steal. Thinking about getting another.
We charge them every night, so I can speak to how many miles they'll go. I'd say about 15. Not likely more than that.
My Ausum L2 Max Dual Motor goes up to 40 mph "race mode" - that might be overly fast, but thats a good thing IMO. When I'm in public bike lanes etc I can set to "sport mode" 30 mph to follow the law.
When I want to maximize range, eco mode max speed is 18 mph, with only 1 of the 2 motors engaged. A speed setting for everyone.
