My kids have the version that does up to 16 mph (350w I believe). As an adult, it's moving...can't imaging 22mph. That said, they charge them very little and they're always on them. The Aovo app has the ability to speed restrict them. The braking system (just rear disc) was a bit taxed with me on it (240#) at speed. But they've been a good investment and seem to be good quality units going on two years now.

I was at Costco today and they had the Phantom A10 with 400W motor, no suspension, and a max speed of 15.5 mph for $399.99. This AOVOPRO is a really good value.

Thanks for posting OP!

Was looking at an electric unicycle which was already on sale and had a PayPal $30 off. It was applied at checkout and I tried to add USAS60 for another $60 off, but it wouldn't take. Then the PayPal $30 disappeared and clearing the cart or restarting the app didn't bring it back.

Weird. Would have pulled the trigger otherwise.
Which one?

I like everything about this scooter except the tires. They are squared off like car tires, cannot lean on them at all. They are fine if you go straight, but be extremely careful turning. The scooter would need to be upright at all time. After 10-15mph, the turning is more like an airplane, requiring counter-steering and lean angle. So go slow, slower than 10mph, when you turn with these tires.

Rich,
Thanks for sharing this. Can I ask what speed your's rates at? The listing for this one (in multiple stores) says 22mph, but their direct website clearly states 25km (15mph). I live in a pretty safe suburb of Chicago with great roads, so I have less concern about the tires at this point along my envisioned commuting routes (from home to the grocery store etc). But 15mph to 22mph is a big jump in my opinion and worth causing me to reconsider unless someone with real-world travel experience on these in my type of scenario can advise otherwise.
I think it similarly gets up to around 15-17 on flat roads, maybe going up to the low 20's going downhill and uphill entirely depends upon the grade and your weight. My buddy modded his to go a little faster, but I think stock is the perfect speed. The braking distance on these is somewhat longer than a road bike, so I wouldn't be comfortable going any faster unless we're talking open roads with no cross-traffic, pedestrians, etc.

In 3,000 miles I've wrecked several times and glad I wasn't going any faster when I did. All of them were my fault. I always wear a helmet and bike gloves or a couple of them would have been hospital disasters instead of riding off with a few scrapes. You do fall less awkwardly than you do when you go down on a bicycle, however.
On paper it sounds like faster is always better, but unless you have an open road commute where the faster speed can safely make a big difference in your trip, this is plenty fast enough.

There's this cool tech called GPS nowadays 👍
You really need a good handlebar phone mount to track that since you don't want to be handling your phone at speed, especially downhill max speed. Unless you have your phone in an Otterbox Defender case or something similar, your phone is likely to get damaged if it's mounted onto your handlebar and you wreck. I'm sure there are apps that will collect that data that you can review after your ride, but I've never bothered. It's somewhere in the 15-17MPH range for the average sized person on flat roads.

Understood, thank you sir. I weigh ~145 pounds, so even with 5-6 pounds of groceries, I think I'll be good with this one (and a helmet!).

The only other part I'm thinking through (since I've never had a scooter) is if there are any preferred lock types for e-scooters vs regular bicycles? Meaning, when parking at the grocery store on a bike rack (which I'm assuming the grocery stores will have, haven't looked for them per se). I was thinking of something like the below which has 4 feet of give on the cable, or a non-combo pure steel one like the second below.

I bought two of these on eBay for my middle schoolers a year ago. Scooters are great.

I'm able to cruise at 18 MPH without an issue.

Uphill is tricky, but can get up most of them. There's one by my house that's pretty steep and I have to kick/push it up. Probably close to a 15% grade.

At this price it's a no-brainer. I paid $220 each and it was a steal. Thinking about getting another.

We charge them every night, so I can speak to how many miles they'll go. I'd say about 15. Not likely more than that.

Every scooter and ebike thread..so many Karens and safety team goofballs come out of the woodwork, concerned over your safety is always so amusing.... Some of you need to touch grass and lighten up a bit!

Keeping an eye on this, as we live in a hilly area, so this would be nice for my tween kids to get back and forth from their friends' houses. If I can speed restrict it, if necessary, it would be good. The 350W version currently a popular deal seems good too. But the bigger battery is worth the extra money imo.
Yes the bigger battery is definitely worth it. Battery prices going up this year, thanks to AI data centers. So now's a good time to buy anything with a battery because they all will be more expensive later this year.

22mph is not overly fast or dangerous. The limit in most locations for electric scooters is 30 mph AFAIK. Most speeds, ranges, etc are exaggerated vs real world experience, especially with these entry level scooters.

My Ausum L2 Max Dual Motor goes up to 40 mph "race mode" - that might be overly fast, but thats a good thing IMO. When I'm in public bike lanes etc I can set to "sport mode" 30 mph to follow the law.
When I want to maximize range, eco mode max speed is 18 mph, with only 1 of the 2 motors engaged. A speed setting for everyone.

Aovopro's site says this only does 15.5 MPH for max speed.
The default is 15.5 but you can use the app to increase it to 21.
