I've also found that the Costco brand (Kirkland) are just as effective and consistently less expensive per tablet....but it's only a viable alternative if you have a club in your area (since it's not a shippable item) and may not be practical unless you use them frequently (which I do).

The Kirkland ones taste terrible but they do the job. These Tums are a 96 pack for under $4...cheaper than Kirkland, and they taste a lot better too.
I've been using the Kirkland "berry" variety and, in my opinion, there's very little difference in terms of the taste.
Insofar as the price is concerned, they sell 530 tablets and the price was much less per tablet (as compared to this deal). However, if you prefer "Tums", this is a decent (not exceptional) deal.
Additionally, the Kirkland are 1000mg vs. 750mg....so, in many cases, one tablet is adequate, whereas you may need two if they're 750mg. Savings on top of savings.
Yes, the standard antacids are calcium carbonate. However, there are other varieties (like "smoothies") that aren't nearly as "chalky" as these basic versions.
Personally, I find these "old school" types to be more effective....and they're always cheaper than the less "chalky" types....but these aren't too much fun to use.😝
