This 10W solar battery maintainer is aimed at keeping a parked vehicle topped off, especially for cars, trucks, mowers, and other equipment that sit for weeks at a time. The low price stands out, and the panel has been reported to hold batteries around 12.75 volts, clear low battery warnings, and restart vehicles after long idle periods. The OBD II setup is convenient for some vehicles, but the connector can be finicky, and several reports question whether the panel is enough in winter, behind tinted glass, or for dead batteries. It looks best suited to light maintenance in decent sun.

  • The maintainer can help prevent low-12V warnings by keeping the battery topped off.

  • The solar panel can generate charging current even when mounted inside the windshield.

  • The OBD-II setup can work for vehicles that sit for weeks with parasitic drain issues.

  • The device can maintain batteries around 12.75V year-round across multiple vehicles and mowers.

  • The indicator-light behavior can fail to match the expected full/charging pattern on some vehicles.

  • The OBD-II connector can be finicky and may fail on some 2000s Camry and Corolla models.

  • Charging through the OBD-II port is not recommended even when using a trickle approach.

  • The solar panel can melt or curl up on the dash after mounting.

I've got three of these on equipment and they keep the battery from draining, but it's NOT a charger, if you've got a dead battery this isn't what you need, which should be obvious.
I left an eight watt charger like this on a dead battery and forgot all about it and what do you think happened? It charged.....

I have one of these. I let my car sit for 4 weeks while I was away. When I came back it started right up with no issues.

Is it a newer truck? I'm reluctant to trickle charge through OBD on my 24 GMC that has so many electrical things going on. Even when I open the back door of the vehicle, I hear whirring and electrical sounds under the hood.
I don't recommend charging through OBD 2. Even at a trickle.

How long was it left on the battery?
Did you charge via the OBDII port or the direct clips?

If anyone's battery is dead, the fastest charge up is achieved with a charger that uses direct clips and outlet power.

Could you use this with a portable power station like Bluetti for very slow, gradual charging?
The unit uses typically 10-30 watts just when it's on with nothing plugged in to run, so this probably wouldn't charge it.

im surprised a 10watt solar panel is enough.
It really depends on the use case. My "German engineering at its finest" cars consume about ~20W for security, remote entry, etc.
My old trusty Xterra consumes maybe 1W tops to blink an LED with the word "SECURITY" printed above it. Nobody is breaking into it without the LED blinking faster. That'll stop them.
Just remember that the panel wattage is rated at its maximum capacity - not its average output. And be it the car charger or OBD2 adapter, you need an active circuit back to the battery for this to do anything. A lot of negative solar charger (maintainer) reviews come from people not understanding that their vehicles have auto shut-offs on the cigarette lighters when the vehicle is off.

I've got a parasitic draw on my old truck and this may be enough to overcome it. Or just install a battery shutoff and keep this solar thing plugged to it so the battery stays topped up.

A 10W solar panel phone charger isn't even enough for a phone. This surely is nothing more than E-Waste.

I've had this on my wife's beemer for 3 days, after topping the battery with a battery tender. Has yet to blink indicating "full". Wondering if I got a bad panel. My multimeter shows it's putting out 10.43w in full sun. Not sure what's going on here, about to just say f*ck it and return.

Same problem with my 30-year old 4runner. 4 days on a full, new battery and no blinky-blinky.

Please do any amount of research on like products. 10w is a laughable amount of electricity. This product is nothing more than e-waste. People have tested and deemed like systems to not even be enough to sustain a change on a modern day cell phone. Half of these comments about "this worked amazing" are shills/paid actors or people who haven't the slightest clue of the actual impact this would have but can't help but consume products.

I couldn't give 2 shits about "impact", "e-waste", or any of that other garbage. Preach your gospel somewhere else.
