For those unaware, these pads have a use but it's not recommended for squats.

It worsens bar stability and bar position without giving a real performance benefit.

If adding comfort is truly the only way you can do squats then I'd saw the risk of injury is worth it by lowering the working weight.

Best way to earn the respect of your fellow gym goers is to throw one of these on the barbell for some quarter squats 👌

Best way to get respect of your fellow gym goers is to throw this around the bar and do hip thrusters as you stare deeply into their eyes.

I use a bar bad for jerks behind the neck and glute bridges, but not squatting (not needed).

Not for squats but I worry about hurting my collar bone when I do power cleans. These might help.

Unfortunately I bought a very similar pad for doing squats with barbell on the back. It did not help at all. The reason is the pad raises the barbell by approximately the radius of the pad which actually makes it harder to grasp the bar properly. I ended up buying a used cambered barbell (3 inch, by Titan) and I use a Home Depot foam pipe insulation tube which is pretty thin and pads the back fine. I've done the back squats without the foam pad pipe insulation and it is not uncomfortable either. The cambered barbell allows you to grasp the bar a couple inches more forward than the straight barbell which is so much easier on the shoulder joints. You can easily raise the posterior deltoid muscles into proper position to help support the barbell. This is why you see so many of these used thick pads for sale on line. People thought it would make back squat easier... it does not. More the opposite. Get a cambered barbell.
Cambered barbell is nice of deep chest press as well.
