Interesting.. didn't realize terra cotta was actually porous. That makes sense now why they are used for plants. Lets air get in as well

It's an ancient thing, actually. The Chinese used this over 2000 years ago. Yes, they work for conserving water and directing water towards the roots of plants that want constant moisture like tomatoes. Just refill them as needed. Look on YT for tips on placement in your garden. Good luck!!
